Ok fam, the bay rap is in Fords hands as of yesterday since it peed engine oil on the floor. That makes 3 rear main seal failures I know of now in the 3.0 Raptors. How many more are out there? Curious to know how big of an issue this is. Rear main seals failing this early in an engines life (sub 20k miles) is pretty concerning, especially when I see it being a common issue.

Saw your post and a few others. I had a 2017 4Runner that lost its sealing ability at the rear main seal, less than 40k in. The dealer fixed it, and that rig was one of the most reliable, other than that one major hiccup. Hopefully, this is not common.

btw, saw your Ranger at TRR this past summer. Amazing truck. I was in my Gen 3 at the time, but I'd been eyeing these rangers and took some time to admire yours.

My main seal started leaking at 14k miles. (Last April)
I took it to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty. I now have 25k miles with no issues since.

There is a service bulletin for this issue, SSM 53292.

Mine is fine at 21k, but something I'll keep an eye on. Thanks for the heads up.

So... I just bought mine three weeks ago today from Aaron Ford which is about an hour and a half away because they are the only Ford that would sell me the white version at MSRP here in the San DIego area. At 300 miles I saw a couple drops of oil on the garage floor. Cleaned it up and wiped the underneath of the truck thinking it was some factory residual. Went under a couple days after and there again. After a not so great experience with my local El Cajon Ford service center, I called the dealership I bought it from, Aaron Ford Lake Elsinore and they handled it with an aweome can do helpful attittude. Without knowing the exact issue, they scheduled to get me into a sister dealership closer to me and got me into a rental truck. Dropped the truck off at around 800 miles. They advsied that it is the rear main seal and they ordered the parts and are taking care of it. WIll keep you posted after I get it back. If I had not dropped a socket

Heres a photo of where I noticed the oil. There was a lot more the first time I saw it, not a ton more but that knub and the surrounding area. Takes about a day after wiping to look like the photo.

I forgot to come and update. Mine has been back in for the rear main, again. They also changed out a coil pack due to misfire code. I picked it up last week and as soon as I got on the highway, CEL started flashing and no balls. Sounded like the waste gate was open which made sense why there was no boost. Immediately took it back and dropped it off. They confirmed multiple cylinder misfires.

I had several issues on a recent trip with the ABS module freaking out, so they’re addressing that as well. Still love the truck, but I’m not feeling confident in it right now. I’ll report back on what this latest round at the service department turns out to be.

Whats the sister dealership they had you take it to? Im currently in SD and would get get some basic maintenance done by a competent dealership.
I keep looking occasionally, lucky no oil drops on my 25 RR 🤞
