My seatbelt warning keeps going off for the rear middle seat. The issue is primarily when someone is sitting in one of the other rear seats and the center seat is empty. Happens with kids or adults, so its not like Ive got a fat person taking up two seats or something. It goes away when I buckle the seatbelt for the unoccupied middle seat.

Someone though it might be an issue with inserting the seatbelt into the wrong buckle, but thats not it. The side seatbelts won't even click into the center seatbelt.

I highly doubt it has anything to do with the issue - but I do have a subwoofer installed behind the rear seat, and I have crappy seat covers over the OEM upholstery. I can't imagine either of these would be causing this issue though.

Anyone else have this issue? What could it be???

Best guess - Weight sensor is overly sensitive and likely picking up the compression of the seat cover from the other seat. Buckle it permanently, or turn off the notice with forscan. I did the latter.

I have this issue just about everytime I have to take the kids with me for some reason (they're around 50lbs each.) I usually will open just 1 door and have them file in on one side and I think when they slide through, they put weight down in that middle seat and it triggers the truck to think a passenger is sitting there. It of course won't go off unless you restart the truck or simply just buckle that middle seat belt. Super annoying I agree. First vehicle that has ever done this. If I had to guess, I bet everyone's Ranger does this.

Yea, that sounds exactly like whats going on with mine. Pretty annoying glitch. I did all the Forscan work a while back and I'm rusty on it and wish I didn't have to reopen that can of worms.

I've had this problem when people ride in the rear seat. I just leave the middle belt buckled all the time.

My middle seat chime goes when my kid puts their backpack in the center. How I know if they got homework or not. Lol Started just buckling it.

This happens to me anytime two people are in the back seat - I just leave it buckled

Happens to me all the time. Once everyone is buckled I simply open and close my door and it resets everything and alert goes away.
