Greetings All, hoping to get some feedback from experience Ranger raptor owners. I’m taking delivery of my new Ranger raptor in the next week and I’m looking for suggestions, upgrades, preventative measures etc. especially exterior and paint related that I should take it to account while the car is new.

Whole Front PPF. Some may argue “it’s a raptor drive it”. I’m in Colorado we have pea sized gravel for traction aid on the highways. Freaking Bullets is what they are!
Rokblox mudflaps are fantastic if you want to keep the paint on your rear fenders. I opted for the mid flap to keep the previously mentioned bullets from attacking my shock sensors.
Ford Performance Tune! You definitely won’t regret that. Eww California huh? Go across state lines be a rebel it’s worth it!

Paint is definitely soft when new. Got a few chips in the normal places right away. A year later I don’t think I’ve seen another one. Don’t remove the running boards. Looks bad a** without them but they block a ton of stones. Ask me how I know. And the FP tune is the best bang for your buck.

When my lariat was new I had it ceramic coated with front ppf, then I sprayed a lanolin undercoating everywhere else.

So the paint will harden up? Mine scratches when you look at it. And I got my car in June.

To preserve finish(es) while 'fresh':
  • PPF in selected areas [ie front facing, lower side panels, etc]
  • Ceramic coating [UVs, hydrophobic...easier clean-up even with muddy water]
...most other mods/adds anytime thereafter

Thank you what’s the difference between a ceramic coat and just PPF?
Protection Film (PPF) - Protection against scratches, rock chips, and environmental contaminants like bird droppings and tree sap, which preserves paint with 'self-healing properties' for minor scratches and hydrophobic for easier cleaning.

Ceramic Coat - Durable, semi-permanent layer of protection that chemically bonds with your car's factory paint. Typical application professionally or DIY too, can last for years with proper care, offering superior protection and a long-lasting factory finish. Ceramic coating may also be applied to PPF.

I had PPF & ceramic on mine first thing. Just got off some trails today, & am glad to have the extra protection... the desert shrubs have claws & daggers.

even if you don't go off roading, parking lots and home garages can provide some dings

I think I would at least coat the drive shaft with lanolin or something similar or like @stemplar mentioned, the whole underside

What he said. I’ll add that ppf is a flexible plastic film that adheres to the paint; think clear vehicle wrap. You can get ppf applied at the factory and it’s not bad or expensive, but a good aftermarket shop will do a better job with more thorough coverage and probably a warranty, but for more money.

It costs about the same as a 50/50* paint job.

*Paint that looks good at 50 feet or 50mph.
