I always wondered about this but never took the time to research it. As per google -

Yellow and red dots on new tire sidewalls are quality-control markers indicating weight and structural variations. A yellow dot marks the lightest point of the tire and is matched to the wheel's valve stem. A red dot marks the high/stiff point (radial force variation) and takes priority, aligning with a low spot on the rim. [1, 2, 3]
