Is the front mudflap actually doing anything with the rock rail there?

This is actually my truck. They used it as the template for the Ranger Raptor. They look and work better than the oem ones in my opinion.

With no mud flaps, there is a large gap at the front of each of the steps - they are not rock rails! - stuff can get through there and hit the front doors and the front of the rear fenders. Factory flaps will seal off those holes, but not provide as much coverage under and on the sides. I was waiting on Rally Armor, but these are available and way cheaper.

Rear flaps are needed to keep stones from flying through a trailing vehicle’s windshield. The BFG tires are rather nasty about holding rocks and then slinging them like missiles at speeds over about 50 mph once you get on pavement…. Offroad, that doesn’t matter quite so much. But it does keep the back of the truck much cleaner.

Even if you never go off pavement, flaps will be priceless when you encounter an unexpected stretch of fresh chip sealed road (gravel laid over tar).

I don't understand the pricing on these. A set of universal flaps goes for like $40. Drill some holes, pick up some fasteners, and you've got a solution for 1/4 of the price.

I agree. $170 for 4 pieces of rubber with a logo and some screws is "kinda high price".

I have adapted raw sheet rubber to make mudflaps on several vehicles and it can be a real PITA sometimes. I have seen cars with crooked, lopsided, home installed “rally” mudflaps, they look plain silly. Off the shelf solutions usually look much better and are certainly faster to install..

Some people are perfectly OK with paying for plug and play parts…..I am past the stage of my life where I am willing to waste hours of my time making do by fabricating parts when there is a better/ easier product out there. These projects always take way longer than you think they will.

If you find a cheap universal set that looks good on a Raptor and can easily be adapted, go for it. If you decide to make your own flaps, please start a new thread and post a drawing showing the dimensions, hole pattern and precise spacing. Cutting the material cleanly can be a challenge. Clamp a steel yardstick firmly in several places, use a brand new razor blade, and do the cut in one pass. Practice first, it isn’t easy to get clean cuts… And rounding the corners neatly can be really tough.

These flaps are really ugly and don’t do the RR justice.
to each their own I guess.

Fair points. Just letting people know there are other, cheaper options. A cardboard template and 2 hours of enjoyable problem-solving can yield pretty good results. My Gen 1 Raptor for example:

I plan on doing the same with my Ranger and will do a writeup when complete.

The part about dimensions and templates is so important. The amount of time saved not having to measure and cut out cardboard and foam to make templates is not something to sneeze at.

Universal flaps are rubber.....arent cut to fit......you have to drill holes and buy fasteners. If you dont see the value in them then you wont understand pricing. By all means hit up an autostore and slap the $40 flaps on your 60k truck.

Shipping Protection is just that,, you get a free replacement part with no hassle if the package is lost or damaged in transit. The fee varies with the cost of the parts. I also ordered a set for my daughter’s RAV4 and the fee was bumped up to $15. I think you should not worry about it, they don’t charge sales tax. There was an option to delete the fee at checkout, did you miss it?

I am not aware of any forum discount, that would be nice, and it wouldn’t hurt to ask them about it.

Also, these are about the same cost of the factory Ford flaps, and way cheaper than the Rally Armor UR (urethane) ones, which are not yet available except as Universal versions at $65 per pair.. Rally Armor have cheaper plain plastic ones, but those have no place on a Raptor, and I think that all of the Universal ones are too small…. I used the Universal UR ones on my wife’s 2022 Acura RDX and they look appropriate for that vehicle. They would look tiny on a tall truck.,,

Mine are a poly blend plastic from RallyArmor and they don’t need to be cut. Drill holes for mounting points and fasten. That is exactly what I plan on doing - Thank you for your approval.
