Another oil change. Another enjoyable time alone in the garage changing oil and swapping over to the UPR fast drain plug. Ronin worked great, but someone posted here (sorry, can't recall who) suggesting the UPR design as it's a single design. Thought that was worth the swap as it's one less piece I have to look for when getting my oil change kit out.

If you do have the Ronin (and I assume the UPR will be the same) when you remove the plug about a half cup of oil comes out even though the drain tube was dry. Was not ready for that and had some clean up. I challenge myself to not put a drop of oil on the floor. Lost this time, but it was still fun time doing the maintenance.

Question for those that have done their own oil changes. What tip/trick do you use to get that little O-Ring on the tip of the oil filter housing? I have a pick tool to easily remove it... but damn if the majority of my time isn't spent trying to put the new one on. Would be awesome to find out "yes.. you need to do x/y/z and it pops right on...".

I place the ramps under the right front and right rear tires. That way the truck is angled to promote a full drain out of the pan. No need to remove the drain valve.
The O-ring can be put on dry. I just roll it on with my thumbs.

I use one of these paint can openers to get the little o ring on and off. The bottom hook is perfect.

This is what I found that works for me.

Check out how this guy uses a piece of string to install the small o-ring:

That!! is a great find! Right about 1:10 of the video shows his trick. Will try this next oil change. Appreciate the tip.
