RR Exhaust Cleaning Tip

I’m sure many are aware but I figured it would be worth a post for those who havent cleaned exhaust pipes before like myself prior to doing this.

I used chemical guys heavy metal polish, ultra fine scotch bright pad, and microfiber cloth.

Really is about a 10min job total. Super easy if your exhaust tips were starting to look like mine aka rusty pitted dirty carbon caked.

They look good, I need to do mine they got some under Coating on them when they did the coating.

I was pretty blown away at how quickly it worked. Mine were looking terrible before.

Yessir. The salt air does it dirty.

I saw that as a recommended method as well. I have no evidence as of yet but apparently a good metal polish like what i used and others out there will leave behind a protective coating of some sorts but well see if it works or if it would just get burnt off anyways by the exhaust.

ive done some NASTY exhaust tips with the steel wool and it works so well.

Hah i believe it. Even with just the scotch bright pad i was blown away how easily the carbon and rust came off. It had been developing for months and persisted thru every car wash id done yet came off like it was just dirt with a little scrub of that stuff. If it didnt work how i wanted i was going to upgrade to the steel wool.

I use steel wool & Scotch-bright pads and finish with microfiber cloth to give it a polish. I have attached the metal polish I got off Amazon for $19.99 enough to last a lifetime. See photos below - sorry I didn’t do the before but I had to remover the over spray of the undercoating. So it was more than just dirt and mud. Took 10 minutes for both sides.
