Apologies if this is answered elsewhere - I did a search first.

Just picked up a ‘25 Lariat 2.7L and will have a RSI SmartCap EVOa installed Friday. Going through the install instructions Found here it references the harness is for LED and requires a separate purchase for incandescent tailights lights. The Lariat seems to come with incandescent from what i can tell and not LED (rear cab brake light is LED however).

Primary question: Is this correct that I will need a wiring harness kit for incandescent and not LED?

Any other Smartcap installs others have done?

Thanks - great forum BTW.

Unless they changed them from the 2024 but my Lariat has LED third brake light and cargo lamps along with LED brake lights. Only incandescent are the turn signals and back up(reverse) lights

The Lariat should have LED taillights as it is the 2nd highest spec in the range.

I have an XLT and installed and connected the RSI "LED TAIL LIGHT HARNESS" as supplied. If I peer through the clear part of the rear lights lens I think I see incandescent bulbs, HOWEVER, the red brake light is an array of LEDs. Also, STEP 42 refers to a "16-PIN" connector for the LED harness connection. On the other hand STEP 45 for installing the incandescent version of harness refers to disconnecting a "6-PIN" connector to then install the harness. I only have a LED equipped Ranger, but I deduce that you couldn't mix the harnesses up. You'd get to the connect step and the connectors wouldn't mate.
Just for the record and to reiterate what RSI says in the installation instructions, if you need an 'incandescent harness' you need to contact SmartCap support.
Hope this helps.

Thanks all. Install is being done by Hawkes Outdoor, San Antonio. The above answers are all consistent: Tailights are a combo of incandescent (turn signal) and LED (Brake). And as mpcraven notes, the LED harness comes with the kit as default. So, should be good to go.
