Old motel that's been completely redone and renovated. Love it!
Had some incredible tacos from a little family joint down the street.
Real change from the fancy places in New Orleans and San Antonio but we're relaxing just fine. (After a visit to the liquor store...)

We stopped here because I visited the Caverns on a family trip when I was maybe 12. I-10 wasn't here yet. After all these years I still remembered Sonora. My wife didn't understand, but now she does. This is the best Caverns I've ever visited, and I've been to a few...

Agreed! It has been just awesome. Had 750 miles on it when we left home. Today-

I have almost 41k! Routine maintenance, though I will be soon looking for new tires. Been a great ride so far. Still thinking about installing some new Eibach struts to level it out.

Not as famous as some others but really beautiful formations in this cavern. We'll worthy of time to visit.

Took a "shortcut". Rough ass road, washed out sections, was hot! Good times!

Carlsbad Caverns. The rooms are huge! The formations are huge! It's incredible.
We returned in the evening to watch the bat flight. It's indescribable how awesome and amazing it is sitting 50ft from the entrance as hundreds of thousands of bats fly out in near silence.

Awesome formations!
And the bats (like a swirling black cloud) leave & fly south to eat tons of insects each night before returning to the caverns!
