A couple buddies and I took the Friday off of work for a weekend trip up to Sequoia. We started planning it a couple weeks ago and noticed the forecast did start to call for some rain and a little bit of snow... Initially we did not expect to receive much since we were only going to be camping around the 7-8k range and were not going to be in the national park. Boy were we wrong. We did question whether we were going to make it home on time for work on Monday but all in all it was a pretty solid trip.

Needless to say we did freeze our a**es off.

As mentioned in one of my previous posts, I need to get better gear. This time the main issue was clothing but the snow did end up killing two of our canopies.

Besides the ride along the PCH I think Sequoia area of CA is the most beautiful of what I have seen in Cali, Spent 8 days up in there, loved that place.
Looks like you guys had good times.

I did the Jedediah Smith Redwood Forest a few years ago with my kids. We drove up to Grants Pass in Oregon then across the mountains to that area. So beautiful up there. We missed the big snow but it was all pretty covered still and had started to come down again as we moved back into CA. Such a beautiful area up that way.

Never got over that way to Yosemite or Sequoia and regret it.

Oh yes. Sequoia has become my favorite area in CA. We are going to start planning a trip down south so we will see what is going on down there in the desert.

I drove up Mount Raineer in Washington in May 2011 and I recall there being 10 foot snow banks along the road. Great photos and that video clip was cool. I miss camping. gotta go again soon:)

It was definitely a good experience. We spent about 4 hours on Friday clearing trees that had fallen blocking the road. I want to say it was about ~10 trees. Unfortunately, we did not bring an axe or a chainsaw but one of us brought a hatchet...

Going up to Oregon is definitely on the list. I think we are going to plan a trip to Arizona first though. I would recommend spending a couple days exploring Yosemite and Sequoia. They are truly beautiful.

Dang. I am not really one for the cold but the experience made it worth it. Our buddy in his Bronco was the first one up the hill. I wish we would have recorded it but we were too busy freezing haha. You have to do it while you can.

Seeing your pics and video made me smile.

Spent many summers with my parents on vacation in Sequoia growing up.

Thank you for the share....
