Im looking for a solid metal oil dipstick replacement handle.

I had the same yellow pull handle on my 2014 Focus ST and it broke off (at 244k miles and 11 years old) when checking the oil leaving the dipstick stuck inside the engine.

Im assuming that any replacement for a 2.3l ecoboost will work and likely any made for other ecoboosts aswell. I cant find anything that says for 2024 Ranfer 2.3l ecoboost so just seeing if anyone else has swapped theirs out. I dont need anything bullet or fancy, just all metal so I dont ever have to worry about that again.

I was about to have to remove the valve cover but she got totaled out before I had to do that job.

Its funny but i have seen a few broken handles on dipsticks. Never happened to me but it appears to be more common than a person would think

I looked it up after it happened to see how to get the dipstick out of the engine and yeah it happens often. Im guessing after 11 years and 244k miles of heat cycles and baking in the South Texas sun, the plastic gets brittle and finally gives up the ghost. I just intend to keep this vehicle for 10+ years and I'd like to avoid that happening. Seems like cheap insurance to never have to pull the valve cover because the plastic snapped off.

I had the fun experience of trying to replace a lost jeep wrangler dipstick for the transmission. And jeep stopped making it about 6 years. I had to find one i liked and get someone to measure theirs and tell me how far from the end the lines where. I added all the marks to a nice one from a v8 grand cherokee that i cut down to the right size

My main concern is making sure that it fits the hole and seals up. I dont need anything fancy, these engines look like shit anyway. Glad you were able to find/ make something work.

That was my concern too. I just spent a bit of time at the junkyard opening hoods and looking at what was available. I knew the tube diameter since i measured where it was supposed to go. And i knew how long it had to be, at a minimum so i looked for those two sizes and a handle i liked. I knew i could cut it down so once i found something that met the handle and tube diameter, even though it was 13 inches to long, i took it home and chopped it up. 12 or 15 bucks and good to go
