I am going to be ordering a Ranger Lariat soon, one of the options I am considering is the spray on bed liner. I will not be using the truck for work or hauling materials, mostly for trips on the weekends to local shooting competitions. (need to haul gun cart, firearms & various other equipment) I will probably putting on a BAKflip 4 tonneau cover since it looks like they updated it to fit the 2026 Ranger and a bed rug and tailgate rug. Thanks for your input.

it may be cheaper (and faster if you are ordering your truck, we have heard that the spray in liner part is done somewhere else and adds a few weeks to the build time) to go to a local shop in your town after you get your truck.

my truck has spray in but my local dealer has it done after the trucks are delivered to them. all their trucks come with spray in liner, whether you want it or not, ha ha ha.

i would get it and put a drop in bed mat on top of it. this will protect the bed from scratches and dings and also protect the insides of hte bed since they will have the liner on them

come its a truck? Scratches in the bed with a Bedliner? 😃

my last truck with bed liner was fine and I only had that for 20 years. The only thing that got a bit of rust was my hooks. No scratches

With the factory one it is ok (you get a ford emblem in the front of the bed whoopee and a sticker on the windshield), but they do spray all of the hooks, and if you decide to put in panels or any accessory that uses them, I think aftermarket is the way to go

I would have hesitations about putting in a rug has all kinds of leaky points. But one of the bed mats would be fine.

If I was hauling anything fancy I would store it in the back seat with it folder down.

i always scratched off my spray in bed liner and i ended up just spraying black paint to cover the exposed metal. usually i scratch it shoveling something out of the bed though so its possible most people won't have hte same problem. though i did take a bunch of spray on liner off my 04 ranger's bed when i had to try and get an engine out of the back for one of the bmws. the hoist started lifting and hte engine shifted and scraped a huge piece out :(

I have the ford one on both of my trucks. It is a little brittle compared to linex. I have a couple of chips and gouges in the bed-liner that doesn’t usually happen with the line-x.

I can imagine the damage you might have gotten without the liner.

I have had spray in liners in my last three trucks. I like not having to worry about scratches just tossing stuff back there. And the side protection is nice. I haven't experienced it chipping or coming off, but I am not extremely rough with it. I would be worried about mats trapping moisture. But maybe not.
When I was looking at trucks this go around, I sought out a place about an hour away if I didn't find one that already had it. Maybe look locally just in case.

BED RUG -- you will be happy. Easy to install, easy on the knees when crawling around and if it gets dirty, you can take it out and wash it with the hose.
Yes, it costs but it is the way to go in my opinion.

I have the Ford folding hard cover and if the BED RUG gets wet during a hard rain, it has always dried within a day or two.

I always get spray in liners, except on my previous truck ... Tacoma with plastic bed.

They make it unnecessary to take special care when loading or unloading, other than considering whether the grip of the liner is a plus or a minus. The factory liner is similar to Linex-X, which is harder and less grippy than Rhino and similar.

Your use suggests to me that you don't need a liner for protection. Even though I'm a spray in liner fan, for your use I'd probably save the money and call it good with a mat and/or bed rug.

If you do get a spray in liner, my impression is that the factory/dealer installed option is no better or worse than Line-X. However, I've had a couple of occasions in which I gouged or cut the liner and needed repair. Working directly with the aftermarket company has been easy and quick.

There are rattle can liner sprays you can buy, if you are going through the effort to touch it up with black spray paint may as well do it right

We had the Bed liner installed by the Dealer when we purchased the Ranger , it was bare when we purchased it . We took the Truck back & the had it for less then a day , they did a good job , lots good . My F150 didn't have one & after 14 years looked bad , my Super duty had it from the factory & was like new when I sold it .
