My truck started making tapping/clicking noises from the HVAC blend doors in the dash in the last few weeks. Not sure if it’s normal and I’m just now hearing it because the truck is running heat for the first time since I got it, or if the blend doors are already starting to get sticky or having motors fail.

Sounds a lot like the blend doors on my BMW X3, except that started when the car was 7 years old with 120k miles, not 8 months old.

The dealer already admitted it's the compressor. But they are trying to say it's normal. I noticed this after three days of owning the truck. Already been down the blend door route.

Hi there! I can look into your Ranger's noise concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Ranger's VIN?

Last update on this issue. After all I've been through with Ford and their so called customer relations department I've decided to move on. I don't want to fight a lemon law fight at this time. This truck isn't worth it. The dealership is going to work with me tomorrow and put me in a different vehicle. At least the sales department is stepping up. It won't be another Ranger. Sorry. I know most of you enjoy and love your Ranger and Raptors. I guess I just happened to get the one lemon. It happens. I hope the others with issues are able to get them worked out. I'll still look in and see what other members are doing to theirs just out of curiosity.

Still seems like you are rewarding them for their bad behavior. What happens if the replacement has issues and you are dealing with the same service department?

I had a long heart to heart with the main guy at the dealership. He assured me this wouldn't happen again with the new vehicle. He tried to get involved with the Ranger but Ford was the deciding factor on that. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt this time. I've had good relations up until this vehicle and we both want to keep that going.

Boy I hope I have better luck getting a buy back than you did. My raptor has been leaking oil from the engine. It’s had the engine taken apart three times and the cab removed from the frame. I haven’t had my truck since mid November.

Any follow up on this? Did they get you a new truck? I have the same issue with my 24 RR. They initially told me it was normal. Test drove an employees RR and it did NOT make that noise. They agreed to change the air compressor out but the shop foreman does not see happy about it.

I’d love to hear if it fixes the issue.
I will reply when I get it back. They said it would take 3 days to get the compressor in. I imagine I wont bet the truck back for about a week.

Dealership put in a new AC compressor shipped from factory. Although it ‘might’ be a little softer, the whirring noise is still there.

While I was at the dealership there were two other 2025 RR that I was able to listen to. One had it louder than mine and one did not have it.

Mine is a late 2024. If it really is the air conditioning compressor, then they are shipping that way and the dealerships are unlikely to do anything unless they have a recall. They don’t have any other answer for it unfortunately.

Thanks for the update. I am positive it’s the compressor on mine. It’s annoying but whatever. I’ve just never heard it a modern compressor be that loud. I also wonder if having the AC lines entering on the left side of the firewall amplify the noise more. Anyhow, as soon as I touch the AC button, the noise stops. Ford has had a ton of AC compressor issues on the Super Duty trucks. 23-25.

Mine is exactly the same. Noise only associated with AC and is audible as long as it is on. It can fluctuate in how loud it is with engine speed. But it goes away if the ac is turned off…or if the auto start/stop turns the engine off. When that happens the blower speed turns way down and even though AC shows on, it is no longer audible.

my popping noise stops when the AC is off, but the random popping makes no sense. It can only be one of two things, either expansion on the ducts when cold air on, or the blend door everyone talks about. My question is, does the blend door operate the whole time AC is running or does it set once based on what vents you are setting for? Meaning, on normal AC once set, does this door fluctuate on and off or move constantly to allow AC temp changes?? If so, its my blend door.

Still trying to nail this down, anyone know how many blend doors we have, and where they are located? Maybe knowing that and associating it with where the noises are coming from will help determine blend door or vent expansion!
