Every 5-6 closes of the tailgate results in this cable being exposed like this. Any ideas on how I can eliminate this from happening?

Same. Have tried to bump the damper over (because that's what appears to be causing the problem). Looking for a spacer to act as a busing....but haven't found the right sized yet.

On another positive note.
I am noticing your tailgate seems to fit a lot better than mine. Mine has a 1/8”gap at the top right.
‘Others posted pics of the same gap on theirs.

I think yours is the first I have seen with what looks to be fit correctly decent panel gap.

I have tried adjusting the gap out of mine but no luck.

So no dice on flipping in the alternate direction the plate fits into a slot in the bed. Also interesting note there’s an open thread for a second dampener on the lest hand side I never noticed. I might find a bolt to shove in there.

Also since my rear end is getting so much attention, some obligatory rear end shots.

First thing I would try is simply disconnecting the cable and twisting it a couple times in one direction, then reattaching it. If one direction doesn’t work, try the other direction.

Another thing to try is something like this cable clamp attached to the cable. Just the clamp may provide enough weight to make the cable fall in properly when closed. If the weight doesn’t get the job done, add a little bungee cord. If the weight works, you may want to dip the weight in plasti-dip or something similar just to keep it from rattling around.

Great detailed suggestions yellow ranger! It just started pouring rain here but I’ll give the twisting idea a go and report back!

Added a spacer under the top mount (plenty of length) which pushed the shock out far enough for the cable to slide by, and no longer hang out. I'm sure Ford will make an adjustment going forward

It’s interesting that you post this because I just noticed mine doing the same thing today for the first time!

Like your choice of "FUEL" on the top of the truck bed.

Mine is doing the same. I noticed it just about the same time you posted this. Thanks!
