Hey guys, I'm sure there are other threads but I want to differentiate this post based on what's going on with my situation. Essentially last year I purchased a 2024 Ranger Xlt 2 wheel drive for work as it can tow a decent amount etc. The problem is that there is not a stock option available for purchase from ford according to my dealership, and accesories.ford.com website customer service. It seems we've been left out. The update I got from my dealership after paying them for the towing option (third party or stock option prefered) is that third party option such as red arc they installed on one vehicle and they aren't installing anyone elses until they can trouble shoot issues with it. because the computer isn't accepting it? Essentially it keeps throwing codes and are trying to figure out what to do.

They state that they have been working with ford and redarc who apparently makes the trailer break controllers for ford... But they still after a year can't seemt to make it work without having weird electrical issues with the truck. They were even saying that 4 pin installations are also giving issues such as weird issues like lights not working correctly and other things i can't remember...

Has anyone else had issues with an install? has anyone successfully had the red arc installed if so where did you put the knob. I want the most discrete option so redarc knob seems relatively small, and i was thinking on having the knob installed by the traction control area. but I think it might be too big. I hope ya'll were able to figure something out cause this is honestly ridiculous

A couple of folks have installed the Redarc controller and it looks like it has worked for them with the bronco harness kit. That's the one I'm planning to order as well, in a couple of weeks. I have a 24 XLT with the basic tow package.
I haven't seen anyone saying it throws codes. Can someone who uses it regularly please let us know?

But yours come with the basic tow mine didn't. So I don't know what they are talking about. Now they are suggesting the curt and that thing looks hideous.

Additionally it isn't just code it's more like it glitches. Says turn signal issues or something like that that's what they said.

The AEB system in the ranger can cause issues with a installed tbc that isn't setup for that. Redarc does make a additional harness to prevent issues with the AEB system. The biggest issue with that is the lengthy installment and disassembly/reassembly of the truck.

all rangers have the basic tow package. that is just a trailer hitch and tow setting, isn't it?

the mid level tow package is the one with a factory frame mounted receiver and the wiring harness at the bumper to hook into.

then the higher level has the brake controller and other stuff

All rangers don't have the tow package. There is an option for no tow package, tow package and advanced tow package. These options depend on trim level(unless Ford changes that as they go) You now can order an STX with trailer brake option IF you order it with tow package.

all the trucks have a bumper with the hole to put a hitch on it. thats a tow package

that used to be all a tow package was but i guess i am forgetting what is considered a tow package now days.

the basic is: just the hitch and trailer light wiring?

the mid is: just the hitch/ trailer light wiring and brake controller?

the high is: has all the bells and towing whistles like the brake controller and back up system.

What you consider "low" has 4 pin and receiver

What you consider "mid" has the receiver plus the 7 and 4 pin(now you can order it with or without trailer brake controller)

Last is Advance tow that includes all the above with assist and trailer brake.

All of the about will vary on Trim levels and possibly location. I've noticed differences between Canada and USA as well as other countries.

I just got off the phone with Redarc and they informed me the reason they made the AED harness. It is for Australia made Rangers and evertrek vehicles. Ones made in North America are plug and play with everything built it.

TPH-007 for connector on equipped ranger
EBRH-ACC-NA for Redarc kit.
