Anyone else feel like the trucks reading on tire pressures is off? I was trying to set them to factory specs. Truck was reading 2 -3 pounds higher than the gauge. So I bought a better expensive tire gauge. Both my gauges read 39psi while the truck says 42psi. Not a huge deal but the sensors have ONE job and they aren't accurate.

Mine typically fall within 1 PSI of the manual gauge.
My TPMS pressures usually sit around 39 PSI cold & increase to 42PSI when the tires warm up.
You could be seeing them at the last time you drove the truck when they were warm.
If you use Forscan, you can enable the tire temps and help you figure out if you're seeing them warm or cold on the dash. I would drive it around the block after letting it sit overnight and see if it lowers them a few PSI.

Another thing for the RR specifically… 39 cold is too damn high. Several have done the chalk test and they sit properly closer to 36. You can use FORScan to change that in the computer too

Most tire gauges are inaccurate, a $75 digital one is better than a $10 one. This is excellent!

My RR sensors are accurate, but only if the truck is in shade - readings are delayed because the sensors have to “wake up” each time by tire rotation. This mornings readings, outside in 62 degrees - they were set to 36 psi in a 80 degree garage. Close enough, the main thing is to alert you to leakage!

FYI when I had a travel trailer I intentionally used screw-on sensors on the tire stems instead of the inside type. Each morning before leaving camp I woke every sensor up by flicking it with a finger. I checked the pressure readings a few minutes later on the digital display. I never used a gauge except before leaving the first day. Why you ask? ….

If a tire started to go flat overnight I would catch the problem before I was out in the highway.

Plus, the button cell batteries could be changed in a few minutes without dismounting the tires.
