Ok Ranger gurus. Revisiting the foot box problem. When I’m wearing me work boots, my toe just barely fits above the brake pedal. I hacked away at the heater vents, and it’s a bit better.before I couldn’t get my toe in there at all. My question… what is this box? Can I just remove/relocate it? It’s almost enough for me to have buyer’s remorse on this truck. Between the toe clearance and the fact the seat just doesn’t go back far enough for me, has me thinking the Tacoma would have been a better bet. Somebody help please!!

Ya. I guess so. I zoomed in the picture a bit and even my old blind ass could see it. I still don’t like kicking it every time I go for the brake.

I'm over six foot tall and wear a US size 12 shoe. The first time I drove my Ranger and went to brake, I was momentarily startled by my right shoe getting tangled and wedged on something. I was able to get to the brake and come to a stop in plenty of time but it did give my heart a jump.

Once I was aware of it I made some adjustments and it has never happened again, even in my work boots. It's natural now and I don't think about it.
Thing that I did was adjust my seat up higher than I would have normally. Still plenty of headroom at roof but by raising the seat it also changed the angle of my foot in the pedal area. Also I use the front part of my foot on the pedals. My heals stays planted in place and just pivots.

Im glad this worked for me, because I really like my truck. Hopefully, this might work for others.

Huh. 6'9" and size 14 boots doesn't give me problems like this.

Tacomas have never fit tall guys.

I filed a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about the brake pedal clearance. I ask that any of you that are also having this issue do the same. Maybe we can get Ford to fix it.

Seems like a relatively easy fix for Ford would be to lower the free position of the brake pedal an inch or so?

At size 9.5 I also have this problem from time to time... in just tennis shoes.
