Hey all, I just put on my tonneau cover, and was wondering how you all have your drain tubes ran? Did you drill holes into the plugs to run the tube out? How much did you push out past the plug?

Also, is it fine for the drain tube to just drip out onto that fiberglass sheet or whatever on the drivers side between the bed and cab?

Sorry for the basic questions, just never had a tonneau with a drain previously.

mine are in the plug the dealership did the holes - and the hose is in about 2to 2.5 inches. One keep coming out so to tighten it up, I wrap some electrical tape and pushed it through the hall. It doesn’t move anymore.

Did any of the clips on those plugs break? I felt like 2 on each one of mine broke the first time I took it off

LOL... I bought the Leer tri-fold Tonneau cover, it doesn't require drain tubes, as they engineered it better than a lot of the others on the market apparently.

Helpful...

But also, the opposite may be true in that they just didn't account for water accumulation meaning it won't drain at all. 🤷‍♂️

That is possible, but my thought before purchase was... as long and respected as Leer has been around, my bet was they did their job right. Like Toyota did with the Tonneau cover that came with my Tacoma... never leaked a drop that I could tell and so far have seen no evidence of the Leer leaking to the bed or any accumulation of water internally, that I can tell.

Leer makes a solid product, well engineered. I had a fiberglass tonneau on my old Ranger, never leaked in the seven years I had it. Also Leer stands behind their products. My hinge separated from the fiberglass, Leer fully warrantied it. Did a replacement no charge. This was after several years of use.
