Having rotated my spare into the mix, I found out my ‘24 Ranger Raptor has 4, not 5, TPMS sensors.

1) I’m having an issue where the current spare (one of the original 4 wheels mounted to the vehicle w/ a TPMS sensor) continues to throw an error. I’ve gotten it fixed, and it’ll work correctly for a few days, then the TPMS light eventually returns to my dash. Any pointers on alleviating this issue long term?
2) The tire shop I visited seemed to think if I added a TPMS sensor to the 5th wheel, that it may confuse the vehicle. Any thoughts on adding a 5th sensor?

Thx in advance!

Everything you need to know here.

TLDR: I got a TPMS for the spare and rotate tires without issue. No error codes, they relearn on their own. I'll be rotating tires again when I change my oil this weekend.

Yeah, apparently whichever is in the spare position stays asleep!

Did you buy a whole set of 5 wheels or swap an OEM wheel for the steel spare wheel?

I have a second set of wheels for my snow tires. All eight wheels have Ford sensors. When I swap between summer and winter tires, the truck finds them and reports accurately. Never have to hit them with a programmer. Not sure if the truck needs to see which ones are rolling to figure it all out, but it does.
