Undercarriage Rust Considerations

I see from this video that there's a lot of open holes in the frame. Seams that could rust.

What to do or what have you done. I thought when i get the truck to rust paint some of the seams.
Is there a plug kit for frame. The most common way to treat the bottom is to Oil it.

I think you want holes in the frame as it will let water out and let it dry out.

i have dealt with welded sealed metal structures and they rust from the inside out.

one thing I noticed is when I stuck my finger through one of the holes in the frame there seemed to already be grease inside

None of the holes that i can see in the frame are down low. They would not allow it to drain out.
One of the things i did like on a 2011 4g Ranger is they had openings on the bottom of the rockers for the debris to fall out or be washed out.

I think you need to go see one in person.

I will se if i can find plugs to fit the holes in the frame. The holes on bottom of frame i would leave open.
I was reading on the 5G site that the rockers have 5 holes on each side which should have caps on them from the factory.

I found this on amazon. The big hole in front of rear wheel.

As soon as I got the car, I sprayed the underside and inside of the frame with rust prevention spray, which should last about three years.

i got mine sprayed with rust prevention spray when it was new and now will get it touched up every 3-4 years.
