Unusable Phone Call Audio - Android Auto

[RR2024]

Last week in my Ranger Raptor all of a sudden the phone feature for Android Auto became unusable. It worked fine in the morning but after I stopped for lunch it has become unusable as I get an insane amount of static on any attmpted call made or recieved. The static it is also transmitted to the other party. I can stream music and everything else just fine, the issue is making or recieving phone calls. I tested my wife's iPhone and that worked ok. I'm on Android 14 with Android Auto 13.0.644004 installed on my phone,. I have tried resetting Sync, removing the Sync fuse and nothing is working to fix the problem.

My Sync system is connected to my home wifi and no updates are listed as availble (currently on Sync 423321_Product Revision 1091. Is anyone else having this issue?

I'm having the same issue... Music is good but phone calls...nope, I was reading that there was a update in the pipeline 4th quarter of 24 hopefully that solves the problem.

Happens every now and then with me as well, had the truck since April and at first I thought it was only AA, but it does it occasionally on the Ford screen as well. No fix, other than I saw somewhere that if you hit the phone disconnect button on the screen, then connect again it stops the static. Not a great solution but its worked for me when the static has happened .

I regularly get the static and calls where I can't hear the other person. Disconnecting and re-calling seems to fix it every time.

I read somewhere on this forum that Ford is fixing this towards the end of 2024 with an OTA update.

I have found CarPlay to be very glitchy. Sometimes it won't connect at all, other times it appears to be connected but the audio does not work. I have answered calls and cannot hear any audio. Very frustrating.

I have very same issue but I have iPhone 12. I have had the screen go completely blank while driving. I can not use blue tooth at all because it either doesn’t do anything or has all the static. Apple car play does not work either. I have aske the service department and salesperson at the dealership and no one has any answers. Since it is a law in the state of Illinois to be hands free, not only is it illegal it is a SAFETY issue that should be resolved immediately. For taking 11 months to get a vehicle and all the quality check holds there shouldn’t be this issue with most of these trucks. I know things can happen depending on how people drive and take care of stuff but this should be a priority with FORD.

I have the exact same problem in my Ranger Lariat. Disconnecting and re-calling is the only way I have found to fix it.Hope the upcoming update works!

I get occasionally brief static on phone calls only, no issue in radio, audiobook, or podcasts. I have a Raptor Ranger via CarPlay with iPhone 16 Pro.

[SOLVED] Wanted to circle back on this thread. Tested my Ranger Raptor with several more friends' iPhones, and they all worked, tested with several other friends' Android phones (v13.x and v14.x) and they worked ok.

That all pointed to my phone (a Nokia) being the issue. I did a factory reset on my phone and that has fixed the issue.

Not sure what caused the issue or exactly how this resolved it, but it worked and I'm back in business with a working Sync system.

I still have this issue with my Xiaomi 14. I couldn't answer calls when I'm driving because this has persisted. I used to be able to reset network settings on my phone and the static would be gone but now, doesn't matter what I do. iPhones work fine, Samsungs work fine. I don't know if this is an Android Auto issue or the Infotainment thing because this used to work after a phone network reset.
