Huh...that would make it a "piggyback tuner". Google AI says that it's not...says that it flashes the ECU.
Both Google AI and everyone here on the forums. I was already back home when I realized.

That's good to know. I will have to remember to tell the dealer not to mount/install the device.

I did that, going off of memory of what I had read here, and they pushed back. It wasn't like they were trying to charge me any more, I think they were just ignorant.

I told the person handling the paperwork that I didn't want it permanently mounted, but then she came back and said the tech said it was required (which was confirmed incorrect up above).
My mobile tech asked me if i wanted the display mounted, said no. The tune in my '25 RR is very noticeable driving around at 8000 ft in Colorado!

For those who ordered this for delivery at a local dealer, how long did it take to land at the dealer? I ordered mine local pickup/install a week ago and the order tracker still indicates “In Transit to Dealer”.

I had called the dealer shortly after I placed the order to ask when/how to schedule the install. They said when the unit arrived there they would call me to schedule the install.

I am just wondering how reliable or consistent that process is.

Took my '25 RR into the dealer on Friday to get the ProCal installed. Tech was unable to install it after trying 3 times. He called the Ford Techline and they suspect a bad cable. That is a possibility I guess but I'm wondering if something else may be causing this. Maybe a software update is needed? I am curious if anyone else has had an issues with programming? This dealership said they just did another RR a couple of days before mine but not sure if it was a '24 or '25. I'm going back this Friday to try it again as they are getting a new cable from Ford this week.

Did it myself and it took about 20 minutes.

I just ordered the ProCal. Has anyone had any BAD experience with self-installation? My dealership knows nothing about this and I'm inclined to just do it myself. Anything to watch out for other than making sure the laptop is fully charged and data is backed up prior to install?

Also, how does Ford know whether or not it was installed by an ASE Technician?

SHOP525 code still works FYI.

So I dropped my truck off this morning. I asked them for the voucher number and they said they don't have one. I assumed this would come up as they install. I told them to call me when they get it so I can register it.

They never called. The tech tried to use his own account. they bricked the unit.

When I went there the service writer had a yellow paper with the voucher number on it, and said it was in the box. Then he proceeded to ask me if I registered it by mistake. I said "I delivered the device straight to dealer, how would I have done that?

Don't trust dealers to do anything right basically. They now need to call ford performance and figure out a solution for me tomorrow.

I cannot comprehend why they'd try to register it with personal accounts.

I'm just glad they didn't brick the truck, but it's hard for me to trust them to do it correctly now.

No issues with self installation. This is my second pro cal tuner I’ve installed personally, and it takes less than 30 minutes.
