Took the new trailer on a test run last weekend before hitting some national parks this week.

Yesterday, Sunday, made another run from Central Florida to Baltimore, I-4, I-95, Capital Beltway, Baltimore Beltway; ran thru traffic, rain, coffee stops (that would be Buc-ees), etc.

2024 Ranger Lariat 4x2, no offroad or tow package, 2.3L......excellent MPG's again.

I ran with all the driver aid stuff on to make the endless interstate miles that much easier, the adaptive cruise set for posted speed limit +5mpg (ex: posted 70, truck runs at 75).

Pulling this mpg, the truck computer shows 530 miles range...for a mid-sized P/U. Way to go Ford!

BTW, the idle is high as this pic was taken this morning with the engine cold.

Installed the EGR J Braces for my Diamondback SE cover. Driver side was a tight fit but passenger was very easy.

Once I knew what cover I was going to put on I found out I needed the support braces (my XLT was built in July '24 so didn't have them factory installed). I had placed the Ford ones on order and after a month the order was cancelled by Ford due to backorder. Of course the day my EGRs arrived my dealer called me and had located a set.

Took it off road for the first time. She's a billy goat! Went up the trail fine, but messed up on a line coming down and high-centered on that stupid crossmember that hangs down low. Argh. Will touch it up with some underbody paint. As expected the stock tires are worthless.

So yesterday, the first day of summer we headed up Crater Lake. It started as just a little snowfall and ended up a blizzard with white out conditions at the crater rim.

I filled up the truck and went over and helped my father in law do some stuff at the house. And we put some ranger tailgate letters on his truck.


He got the lasfit floor mats and i have the husky liner floor mats. The lasfit are better, just for people trying to decide what to get. They feel better, look better, and the snap that holds the driver's mat in place actually stays snapped. My husky liner mat unsnaps as soon as i stop pushing it on the snap.

Did some work at the farm (really just land). Decided to camp while I was there. Saw this snapper while headed into town.

Went up to North Carolina to test out how these Plano boxes do on the highway, and drove up the forest service road that goes to Table Rock.

Finally got home after visiting our son in omaha and going to see south dakota. Went feom around 72xx miles in the truck to 96xx now.

Here is the numbers from fuelly recording everything

If you have never used fuelly, you put in your odometer reading, the gallons, the price of gas, and some other optional bits and it gices you the numbers. Same as penciling it down, but recorded for future use, too.

I have been using fuelly.com for many many years


We left onaha at 0730 and got to corpus christi at 0115. But we stopped and ate meals in the restaurants, stopped at the outlet malls in dallas, and some other little places so we didnt actually drive nonstop for 18 hours. We took breaks here and there

I'm pretty fortunate Arizona has so much BLM and National Forest land, for sure!

We had a second home in Sedona for 14 years...just sold it this month. Arizona is an incredibly diverse, beautiful state. We'll keep returning to Sedona as the scenery is spectacular. You're fortunate to live there!
