Stumbled upon a Ranger Window sticker from 2020 which lists the auto start-stop. Note the "auto start-stop tech" in the 2020 pic. I think all of our 2024 stickers do not. So that seems to confirm the "Auto Start-Stop Removal" under accessories. Here is hoping! Absolutely do not want it.

I hope mine doesn't have it. I don't have the window sticker yet but under accessories on the tracking page it says: "Auto Start-Stop Removal".
My 2017 and 2020 Raptors had it so I'm used to it and most of the time it doesn't bother me too much. What I don't like about it is when parking the truck. When I come to a stop it shuts off before I can put it in park. When I put it in park it starts back up and then I have to shut the truck off.

This really is the worst part of auto start-stop. Our Wrangler does the same thing. Outside of that, it doesn’t bother me.

I’m curious if the button where it is will just be blank or have the “A” but just not be functional….i hate blank switches 🤣

The Ranger does come with Auto-Start-Stop and a cancel switch. Pg 179 - 181 of the owners manual. If you don't like it you can have the ECU module coded to reverse the behavior.

I don't think we'll know until the trucks show up.

I also noticed that it isn't mentioned anywhere on my sticker, but Ford's website and the dealer sites list the trucks as having the 2.3 with Auto Start Stop technology.

Out of curiosity, I searched up a few '23 F-F150s. None of their stickers mention the system, but when I check the pictures on the dealers sites, they all have buttons for the system. When Ford was offering "deletes" as an option, the vehicles had blank buttons in those locations.

There are a few people on the 5G forum, who are trying to add Auto Start Stop to their trucks and they had to buy new switches.

I always heard that auto start-stop is there to meet emissions numbers and boost the MPG listed on the window sticker, so I'm no sure they could/would take it out... but now I'm thinking the A button itself IS the auto start-stop "removal" and Ford just rebranded turning it off as an accessory since they know some people hate it?

Would you rather have that "chip" turn on your heated seats or have it do the auto start-stop. They just repurposed the chips for something useful.

I highly doubt they would remove the auto start stop function.. not that it ever bothered me…. Idk why people don’t like it other than just to hear their engines purr… ESPECIALLY for the Raptors..

I can see they making the function more optional and easier to turn off for the people who don’t want it without needing a Forscan unit to change the settings

More likely they just stopped listing it as it is a gov't mandated feature that comes standard, but doesn't enhance the driving experience.

Gonna show my ignorance a little bit. Auto start-stop is something I’m on the fence about. I see the benefits but is there a concern of extra wear and tear on belts and other engine components? Especially if your area is red light heavy and you’re constantly coming to complete stops and engaging it? I’ve done exactly zero research into this.

most chips have specific architecture, pinouts, and purposes. Varying degrees of on-board processing power, memory, etc. There's also size and cost to consider in some applications. They are not all generic 1 size fits all that can be reprogrammed for any given task, but that idea has been floated a lot since the economy shutdowns and resulting supply chain restrictions.

There can't NOT be more wear & tear with vastly more repetitive uses. Companies say they address that with more robust components like starters and larger batteries to compensate, but that stretches credulity to me after decades of working on mechanical things and electronics at the same time since high school.

The gov't line on this is it's to create less emissions and improve MPG but I think the gain in this is minimal at best. Thinking our real lives- you mentioned red light heavy areas- there's also dive throughs for fast food & coffee, heavy rush hour type stop and go and other unavoidable heavier uses and I'll be shocked if 5 or 10 years from now the collected data on use of the a.s.s systems will be shown to have more than a negligible difference.

Yeah. That’s what my common sense was telling me. I think risk outweighs reward on this one.

It's got a lot of flack on the Mustang7G website. They are putting the auto-start stop back on the Mustang GTs produced after January 1st.
