August 21 has been the job 1 date discussed on this forum.
Everyone that has a build date I've seen is September so I guess I thought that's when they were starting. I know it's been mentioned that they'll be building a bunch of test vehicles for journo reviews. Does that happen after job 1 or before?

Very first vehicles off the line are going to be press and marketing cars. Very low numbers since they’ll be training workers and also do more thorough QA/QC. Three weeks of that and then retail orders appear to start. Press cars are very important as that's when we’ll start to see reviews and also publicity events.

They do already have some press and marketing vehicles out there from pre-production builds. But yeah they will produce more at the beginning as they are more representative. Enthusiasts make up a smaller number remember, maybe they make up more for Raptor, but less for other trims. Dealer stock orders likely outnumber customer retail orders noticeably is my guess. So there will be a mix in there. You also assume the first few weeks of production won't be at the targeted capacity as you work out the issues (QA/QC mentioned).

The pre-launch vehicles should be close to being wrapped up and delivered soon if not already. There’s a big gap between them and Job 1 usually. I picked up a Bronco Raptor from MAP in late May maybe early June 2022 for delivery to a marketing department, I forget when now. Many of the first 15 or so VINs on them were for Canada

I noticed today the 2024 Raptor is now on the current build page (and not future vehicles)... Progress!

I'm kind of glad mine is not scheduled yet. I want some of the bugs worked out first!

The 2.7tt will not be available until late fall with a Job 2 build approximately late January.
So would not see a Lariat order till late march early april
If there is no UAW strike.
There is always 2025. I can wait it out if needed.
If there is a strike watch used vehicle prices climb again.

Does that mean if you were scheduled for a build in September it will get pushed back a week also?

I swear that the people making decisions there have got to be the most overpaid & underqualified bunch of mismanaging idiots in all of Michigan. At this point I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if they don’t just say fuck it, we’re just not going to build anything at all!!
That is a bit of a leap. Producing a vehicle involves years of planning and coordination of almost countless parts amongst many companies spread across the world. If even one of those components is late because of any reason (quality, shipping delay, factory fire, not enough staff) it can delay production. Mitigating that completely would make the end product prohibitively expensive.

They’ve known this was coming for multiple months, a corp the size & scope of FoMoCo should be way more competent than they’ve shown themselves to be in recent years. What multitude of excuses will there be on 8/28? At some point they will have to produce but I’m sure there will be some issue that they will hide behind to cover their ass.
Not looking for an argument. Just from someone that knows the intricate details of what goes into producing a car from conception of design to regular production. These kinds of delays aren't unique to Ford, it is real world. Slightly worse since COVID, but happened pre-COVID just the same.

It is one week...delays happen with everything regaurdless of the size of the company. I would never pre order a vehicle if this upsets you that much.
