I like to leave my 5 amp CTEK smart charger connected in winter, since I do not drive the truck very often. There is limited walking clearance beside my RR and I got tired of tripping over cords and the location of the outlet was far from ideal, I kept running my arm into the charger cord.

I added a second switched heavy duty outlet up high above the existing one, and ran the charger cord below my existing shelves. I can leave the charger plugged in all the time and simply reach up and swipe the switch to turn it on or off. And now I can walk around there and not have to deal with cords. Plus it looks so much neater….

Very cool. This is the same reason why I have mine on the ceiling above my Lotus. Cord is out of the way, but conveniently located. Not switched, but those C-teks are bullet proof.

nice. i added a number of extra outlets and breakers to my garage box previously because my garage was built in the late 40s/early 50s and they had one in each side (its two single car garages built next to each other with no pass through, which is a bummer as the building is block so hard to fix that)

now i have 4 in each side though, 2 per side. life is so much better now. i also had to add a 240 for the garage dryer and a 240 for the welder so since i was doing that, i added another 240 out in the yard under a carport in case people come visit and bring their rv. all three 240s have their own breakers too because rv is different amperage, 50 versus 30, if i remember right. i already had sewer and water out there so now they can just plug in and hook up for visiting.

copper wire is so expensive now though. its a cost to add a large amount of wiring to a building now days.

I would attach a quick disconnect outlet to the front then you wouldn't have to raise the hood just plug it in.

The hood keeps the cable way off the ground, off the paint and out of the way, plus it keeps my wife from driving away with it connected. Hopefully, at least that is the intent!

Yes, very useful on these Rangers that can easily take the battery down.
One of those things that would be useful in shutting things off in Forscan.

I've been using Victron Blue Smart maintainers on my vehicles. I also have a couple NOCOs mounted permanently on 2 cars right now with bumper mounted inlets.

I may try a Ctek, I have heard they are very good. But I do like the Victrons, fully configurable and Bluetooth. I never disconnect them because they have an automatic storage mode where they will monitor, then switch to float or absorption as needed then back to storage..

If you use Alexa you can install WIFI plugs and control them with Alexa. Handy for when you're inside the house and you forgot to switch it on or off, or if you want to set up a schedule.

But if Forscan shut down and WIFI and Synch disconnected how would every equipped Ford vehicle report all that driver and vehicle data to the corporate headquarters and insurance companies?

Curious though why you broke the tab on the device and added a jumper as opposed to just feeding the top screw with the line?
edit: ooops I just noticed there is a pilot on the switch, does the pilot stay on all the time if you feed the top screw?

I just added 2 more stalls to my existing 3 stall car garage. I've got outlets approx every 4', and 4' off the floor. (Fat people do NOT like to bend over to plug in a cord !!!!)

I put all mine at 48". If you put them low they end up getting stuff put in front of them and you can't get to them. I also put some in the ceiling for drop cord reels.

Funny enough, I almost did the same thing for the upright freezer and chargers/misc stuff at the front of the garage. I did it the redneck way instead, and ran an outdoor extension cord with three sockets on the end. Yours is much nicer.
