I had the local Ford Service Dept install the Eibach struts on my Ranger yesterday. I have the knowledge, tools and space to do it myself, but in my 70s now and just didn't have the motivation.

These are the struts that you adjust the spring preload for the 2.3L or 2.7L engine. I left mine set for the 2.3L because I wanted to see where the lift ended up with a 2.7L. Figured I could adjust it later if need be. I'm pleased with the result so no adjustment needed.

I was looking for 1.5"-2" lift. The 2.3L preload gave me right at 2". Perfect.

In the truck pictures, is that the 2" lift with stock tires? It doesn't really look much different from stock. 🤔

Yes, the pics above are after strut installation. It went from 36" to 38" ground to fender arch. Here are before and after pics from roughly the same point of view.

Oh, and yes, those are the stock tires. I recently got some Bronco Steel wheels from a member of the Bronco6G forum. I'll likely go with the 265/70 tires so it will look like these.

Those are going to look VERY nice 😎

Have you noticed any change in ride or handling with the new suspension?

Thanks. I've always preferred steel wheels on vehicles I take off road a lot. I've been known to scratch wheels and a little black paint will touch up a steel wheel. And I think those will look great on the truck. The wife is kinda meh about the wheels but it's not her car .

I haven't really drove it enough to form an opinion yet but I'll report when I do. I still need to get it aligned and don't want to drive it too much until I do. Initial impression is maybe a little firmer than the stock struts.

I also still need to install the rear shocks and will probably do that in the next couple of days. I sprayed some clear coat on the rear shocks today because of a site member's report about the Eibach shocks showing corrosion after a trip over Donner Summit in the winter.

Just so that I am clear. You got a 2 inch front lift that leveled your truck just by installing these new eibach struts? May I ask how expensive an upgrade like this cost you?

Does this allow space for 33's everyone seems to go to with new tires?

Correct. I got two inches of lift. Here is the kit I bought. Eibach Stage 2 Pro-Truck Front Coilover & Rear Shock Suspension Package - 0-3" Lift | E86-35-062-03-22. I bought the kit from Tire Rack for $1,100 then paid the local Ford Service Dept to install them. I have an appointment at Les Schwab Tire tomorrow for an alignment.

I don't know about the 33" tires. I think you would need wheels with less backspace or spacers for those to work.

On pavement I don't really notice much difference, so far. Maybe a little firmer ride. I'll have a better idea once I get more miles on it and take it off road.
