For the past few days I noticed the engine cooling fan in my Ranger Raptor is blowing at its max. It sounds like a little vacuum so the noise got my attention. I live in south Texas and it’s been 100 degrees so I’m curious if it’s just standard or something is wrong. If it’s been hot in your area have you noticed your raptors engine fan just stay on?

Do you have the A/C on? Most cars kick the fan on automatically when you turn the A/C on - no matter what the coolant temp is.

Yes, A/C was on. I stopped at the Ford dealership and they thought it was normal. I’ve had the Raptor for a month now and the fan had never spun up that loud before. However, this is the first week in Texas where its been over 100 degrees so it was the first time I heard the fan running at its Max speed nonstop.

A variable speed fan is supposed to run at Max Speed all of the time?
When there is no airflow over the radiator how do you expect it to cool down your engine? Oh thats right with a fan

Sounds like a tornado siren lol. I've gotten comments this week, they could hear me pull into the driveway.

Check to see if they are both running, watch your fingers! It may be that one has failed, but I would expect a trouble light if that happened. If one is attempting to do the job of two, it will be maxed out for sure. Or a bearing could be bad, making one of them too noisy.

Mine will also be super loud when it’s been sitting outside in the sun at work in 80-90 degrees. Its been fine in the mornings after it’s been in the garage all night though

I noticed mine runs 24/7 in Arizona as well now that it's hot. I would expect the fan to run pretty aggressively in these temps, but its odd that it kicks on at full blast even on a cold start in my garage. The fan is NOISY, I can hear it running over my mud tires, exhaust, radio, and A/C. A lot of my customers at the shop with Raptors (including F-150s and Broncos) report the same thing. I always know some sort of Raptor is pulling into my parking lot because I can hear that fan a mile away.

Just noticed this on my new Raptor. Glad this forum is so informative and was able to find out that this is normal for these trucks

Glad I’m part of this forum and searched the engine fan. My wife was asking me when I pulled up if I was racing home and pushing the Raptor to the limits the way the fan sound when I pulled up. Just had mine a little over a week and love this truck. Glad to hear others had the same concerns and that this is normal.

It's also not unique to the Ranger. I was walking out of a fast food place a few weeks ago and walked in front of the drive thru and there was a newer Explorer sitting at the window sounding exactly like my Raptor, fan blaring. I chuckled as I walked away.
