Not sure I have see this get talked about. Looks like the traction control system can behave in some unexpected ways. The interesting part of the video is around the 16 minute mark for those that cant watch all of it.

All of these issues could have been avoided by holding the traction control button until it was fully off OR just putting the truck in 4LO where traction control is completely disabled by default.

Right!! I scanned through this video and was wondering why he didn't take the traction control off?

He did do that. From what Ive seen in the comments is that everytime you shift modes you have to re-disable it. Also the 4lo stuff you mentioned.

Oh got you. Was about to say I just took my RR though a bit of snow in 4H with traction control off and definitely didn’t have the bog down issue.

ok, so based on the responses here, what config would have got him through that snow? 4LO + front locker? 4LO + front and rear locker?

Put it in whatever drive mode you want. And turn traction control off after.

If you change the drive mode you will have to turn traction control off again

Thanks, I understand the part about traction control. I'm asking what's the best config for the conditions in his video. Are you saying it doesn't matter as long as you disable traction control? Because, you also mentioned the front diff locker in your earlier response.

So, I'm asking the group here: how would you configure the truck to get through Gary's course in the video?

Yes I think it would have been fine 4H with rear lockers traction control off. I honestly have never tested the front locker with traction control off. However it’s probably not allowed? I will test it tomorrow.

I mean, a hill like that in deep snow I'd probably engage both lockers (why not? that's part of what I bought the truck for) and try it in 4H first, then 4L if that didn't work. However, in any scenario I would have turned traction control completely off to begin with. I'm personally very familiar with traction control being a hindrance in deep snow conditions having lived in upstate NY.

I’m fairly certain the front locker only works in 4LO which by default will turn the traction control fully off?
