Yea, we have a lot of retirees around here as well. One of the reasons why I bought the 2.7 Lariat was because of my experience with a 2.3 Bronco - the turbo lag / lack of torque to pass at lowish speeds was maddening. My driving is about 65% highway/Interstate. There is a huge speed differential here on the roads. The average age is 70 years old and so many drivers doing 10 under which present constant WOT passing opportunities. Lots of left lane campers too who decide they need to speed up when you try passing. Plus stop and go even on the Interstate due to urban congestion.
I was averaging 14.8 for the first 5000 miles before getting the FP tune. The summers are hot here so remote start gets used often which doesn't help. I'm sure the main culprit is me though as I have a tungsten foot. The best MPG I've gotten was driving the truck from Michigan to Florida after purchasing. I got mid 16's but was also varying RPM the whole way for a proper break-in.
