Whether you add a bed cover or topper, the plastic bed rail caps are going to leak from between the cap and bed and tie down hole covers.
What are you using to seal between the cap to bed?
I have heard someone using silicone sealant.
Wondering if thin weather stripping might work under the cap to bed?
Silicone would make it a pain to remove the caps if needed down the road. Problem I see with weather stripping is it might make the caps sit too high on the bed rail.

I don't like the look of the silicone around the edges of the caps. Im with you. Im going to remove my caps and get a weatherstrip the proper thickness to put on the outside edge of the rails, outside of all those holes. Then Im going to attempt to seal the 6 caps from the inside before putting it all back on.

Did you do this? How did it work out?

No. I just sealed the small caps by putting some closed cell foam under them.

Huh. That is a good idea. How did it work?
Worked great sealing those. I cut them to size with a fillet knife. Just a little taller than the hole and pushed them it. Then put the caps back on. They will all be slightly different heights but close to 3/4".

It was too difficult removing the entire bed cap without damaging them.

Very elegant. How exactly did you pop the caps out?
Push on one end with a flat blade screwdriver. It will bow up and the tabs at the end will come out.

Silicone worked for me. I’m going to go another route eventually. Just don’t have time now. But probably pull the rails off and melt some plastic on the underside or use silicone to seal them that way so you can’t see any silicone from the top.

This is so easy and you cant see it when you put the cap back on.

Sure but I’d rather seal them on because i will not need to take them off and i know it will be solid.

I tried that and the front couple prongs on the rails are impossible to get out without damaging them. You will probably have to buy new rail caps.

i like that foam filler. i might do that if i end up getting a camper instead of a soft tonneau cover since i would like it to be a lot more water tight
