2025 Shelter Green Ranger Raptor
After a futiie attempt to find a RR in Shelter Green at MSRP (much less any color), the closest one I found that was on a spec I liked (base wheels, no sticker pack) was located in Topeka, Kansas. We came to an agreement on price and the deal was done. I pkanned to arrange shipping myself. I wanted enclosed which complicated matters. I’ve shipped vehicles enclosed in the past with no issues. Well, after dealing with 2 different brokers, over a 2 week period, I finally decided to go get the truck myself..

I left SFO at Midnight on Monday morning. After a 2 hour flight delay in DFW, I arrived in Kansas City at around 11AM. I was picked up from the airport by a dealership representative and made the hour drive to Topeka. My truck was upfront and waiting for ne when I arrived. After meeting the sales team and excha some quick pleasantries, I hit the road with a full tank of gas around 12;30pm.

I had 3 days to make this possible and 1800 miles to make it happen. I was a little tired already, and told myself to try to put at least 300 miles on the first day. Well, I made it all the way to Laramie and even gad time to catch a beautiful sunset jyst before crossing the Wyoming border.

I paid for the long Monday, when I had trouble getting up early on Tuesday. I eventually made it on the road around 10AM. The one place I wanted to stop was the Bonneville Salt Flats near the Utah/Nevada border. I made it there around 4pm and was even able to drive on the salt. I did a quick rip and took sone glamour shots. I ended up staying the night in Elko which is an interesting town to say the least.

i was up early on Wednesday and hit the road at around 6AM. The kast day was uneventful. Truckee/Tahoe area is beautiful and wish I could have spent the day there. Arrived back to the Bay Area, around 2:30pm. Exhaysted, but a memorable journey

Intial 1800 mile impressions;
Pros:
Power- My previous vehicle was a 670hp Cayenne Turbo S, so I wasnā€˜t overwhelmed by the power, but it was still very good. It handled all the uphill sections with ease and maintained an 85mph (80 mph speed limit most of the trip) with ease.

Ride quality- Very comfortable ride with a sporty, but compliant suspension.

Comfort; After spending over 24 hours in the saddle over 3 days, my butt wasn’t sore at all. The stereo is decent. Has all the creature comforts I need.

Negs:

Flexible hood- That thing flexes at anything over 75 mph. I had to check at the first fuel stop that it was clised all the way

Safety nannies: Can you engage cruise control without lane keep assist? I mean it’s important sometimes, but when traveling a desolate Wyoming higgway and Iā€˜m just moving over to pass a slower vehicl, I’m not using my blinker.

Overall, I’m very happy with the vehicle and can’t wait to do sone of the modifications I gave planned.

Congrats on the purchase! I've been looking at these for over a year now. I ended up going with a Rivian R1T but think this will be my next truck.

I think we might live in the same area - saw you posted this today, and also noticed a brand new RR on my way home. If you see a blue Rivian truck with black wheels, thats me!

Hope you have fun with the RR. What mods do you have planned?

Congratulations on the new truck! I made the trip from Moab back to Bay Area about a month ago and I too spent the night in Elko. Downhill on 80 out of Truckee was a lot of fun, truck handles incredible even with 35’s.
Forscan is how to get rid of the nannies you are referring to, but don’t ask me how to do it because I’m a Luddite! My brother uses it at work and he helped me with it. Couldn’t get rid of all the chimes, but we were successful at decoupling the lane keeping assist along with some other cool stuff. We turned on the numeric values of all the gauges, got tire pressure and temperature to show up on instrument cluster, changed the tire size so the Speedo is correct with the larger tires and we even added rear differential temperature (who knew?)
Anyway, lots of good info here and I’m sure someone else can walk you through the details of Forscan.
Welcome!

Belated welcome to Kansas! Also, I'm sorry for I70 and the most boring drive ever.

Great choice in spec! After a year and a half I still exit the truck and stare as I leave her. Get a tune!

As for Lane Keep Assist, in the infotainment center, you can change the Lane Keep Assist mode or turn it off. I think it's something like 3 modes: alert, aid, and alert + aid. Or turn off. No need for Forscan.

Enjoy the truck and share your plans! Lots of places up in the PNW to enjoy it.

Just curious if you owned a BMW before the Cayenne since you said you don't use blinkers if doing a lane change .
Kidding! Nice ride!

That’s so bizarre! Yep, that’s my truck. I live in Pacifica, as well! I have some bronze RTR Evo 6 wheels on order. Going to do rhino lining, tint and Ford tune when it gets CA approved hopefully in the next few months..i looked at the R1T. It just boiled down to not having a good place to charge it at home.

I have the same truck, first thing I did was to remove the ugly antenna on the back and replace it with a stubby. I have the tune now 455HP and 536 lbs of torque. Love the truck add lettering insert in the back of the tailgate and on the running boards dresses it up I think I chose the color red. And added a console safe. Also installed a start stop eliminator…

Do you have a 2024 or a 2025? I thought they didn’t have the CARB certification yet for the 2025.

There is both lane keeping assist and lane centering.

1753992758220-lx.webp

Lane centering is what you are referring to when the cruise is on. You can turn that off using this button on the left side of the wheel.
1753992815509-55.webp

There is no menu option to turn Lane Keep Assist off from my experience in the menu. The options are:
Aid Mode: The system will provide gentle, corrective steering input to nudge you back toward the center of the lane. It will not vibrate the wheel first.
Alert Mode: The system will only vibrate the steering wheel to warn you that you're drifting. It will not provide any steering assistance.
Aid + Alert Mode: This is the most comprehensive setting and is often the default. It will first vibrate the steering wheel to alert you, and if you don't take corrective action, it will then provide steering aid to guide you back.

It can be toggled on/off when the cruise is not active with the same button referenced on the wheel.
