I have been bringing my truck back and forth to RCI a few times to assist in developing a skid plate package for the Ranger and RR. They just installed the full underbody package this week, and I wanted to share it with the community.

I ran a complete set of RCI skids on my previous Bronco and was very happy with how the aluminum held up against some pretty serious hits.

After test-fitting everything, RCI has decided to have a Ranger Raptor-specific engine skid that will better fill the gap between the skid plate and the lower fascia of the bumper. The engine skid in the photos lines up well for the standard Ranger but not so much on the RR. They will also develop rock sliders and test-fit them on my truck in the next couple of months.

I cannot say enough good things about the company and how they do business. Not to mention, they manufacture everything right here in Colorado. They have an impressive operation.

Do you know if they are planning to have rock sliders too?

Looking good. My only concern is that motor plate not lining up with the bumper, thats a big gap for a stout limb to poke thru and do some damage. Is that the location you mentioned as not so much?

Yes. They will be making an engine skid specific to the RR because of how big that gap is.

hi, is that the transmission cross member for the Bronco? does it fit without any modifications? seems like they only list it for the Bronco and not the Ranger Raptor.

Any news about a gas tank skid to replace the plastic skid?

I just ordered a full set from RCI and Josh said they have addressed the gap on the front skid so that is no longer an issue. I forgot to check about a skid to replace the plastic tank plate, but I didn’t see one on their website yet either.

I just installed my RCI skid plates. When I talked to Josh at RCI he said the gap had been addressed and there was only one kit available for the RR. I was a little disappointed to see there’s still a gap of over an inch and a half between the bumper and the plate, but aside from that issue I’m happy. In Texas there aren’t a lot of opportunities to wedge something in that gap (like branches or whatnot) but it would look and perform better if they had closed it imo.

UPDATE! Josh with RCI just called me back and they are rolling out the newly designed front skid plate this week. He apologized for the confusion and is sending me the updated plate without the gap in the next week or so. RCI customer service is honestly reason enough for me to continue to give them my business. I’ll post updated photos after the next install.

That gap is a giant ground scoop! I would roll this skid plate in a week... Yikes
