Our 2024 Subaru Outback has a mostly digital display. Honestly id rather just have physical buttons, especially to control Max AC here in Texas. Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to adjust air or things on the fly cause the software is lagging or bugged. If your screen goes down you're SOL. It looks like Subaru even got the hint because the 2026 Outback reverted back to mostly physical controls. Just give me a screen for maps, apple auto, camera's and I'm good. I use the Auto hold function quite a bit in the ranger but its a pain to navigate through two menu's every time I need to disable it, when I could just have a button next to my drive modes to toggle on/off.

This is a totally new operating system - Android Automotive (Not to be confused with Android Auto, Geez Google). We wouldn't see this in the Ranger until at least whenever the mid-refresh for the model, which I hear might be around 2027.

If it's available for the 21-25 F150 I can't see why it couldn't be in the 26 Ranger lineup

I don't see where this is specially available to F-150 yet. These types of upgrades usually require new hardware and Ford typically will wait to introduce that in a refresh not on current production lines, but I guess it could be possible.

I should have been more specific, Ford "Primo Dreamo" premium connectivity is shown as E-Mustang and F150 compatible...

I have ZERO interest in this NextGen experience. Why?

Well, I can't remember where I read it, but some auto writers have speculated (and I think correctly based on other things coming out of Ford HQ that I've read) this was done not only to provide the driver with a more integrated experience, but also to allow Ford to start putting ads (and other things) on your display!

If true, just think of it..., paying $70k for a great truck and then having to pay Ford more to remove the ads. Just like the streaming services. Or Amazon Kindle. Etc.

And you thought you actually owned your truck....
Well, yes, you'll own your truck, but the "services" required to actually operate your truck...?

This will be an issue that will be at the top of my list when I buy next (hopefully, a RR).

So your top issue is speculation someone came up with to rile people up and get clicks? :p

Actually it’s a stretch to say they came up with it because it’s the same shit they’ve been speculating for like 15+ years.

It is common in China from what I understand. Automakers know that most people would revolt if they did it in most countries so I can’t see anything like that happening anytime soon. If it does happen it would end up being like most smart TVs where you can turn it off in the settings. Just like you can already do when it comes to all the connected stuff in the current OS.

As far as the video you can already do all of that but a full App Store integrated into the Os will be nice. I can’t see myself ever playing a game on a car screen in the front seat but the idea is fun. Alexa actually works really well in the truck already if anyone hasn’t tried it. I asked it about the full moon a day or two ago and it threw a picture up on the screen and explained the current phase of the moon and a buddy of mine lost it.

Cool but if I wanted something that looked like that I would have bought a Tacoma. I hate the "I have an iPad Pro mounted to the top of my dash.

Ask Stellantis why they inserted ads you cannot avoid into Jeep product.

One auto maker pursues this crap and others jump on board. You're going to crap on speculation? It's speculation that well founded. If Ford does this it will be a significant mistake.
