Don't know if anyone else on the forum has had an accident in their Ranger yet. Got rear-ended 6 months and 1 day after picking it up with only 6,500 miles on it. 99% of the time rear-ends are defaulted to the person causing the rear-end collision. The other driver tried to avoid me which is why he only got my rear-right side. Luckily the police gave the other driver a ticket for failure to maintain proper stopping distance so I for sure won't have the insurance try to do anything scummy. Gotta call insurance today and get it scheduled for repair. Hope y'all don't experience anything like me!

UGH! So sorry to see this. Glad you were not injured. Hopefully, the repair will be quick. As the other driver was cited, the insurance piece should go smoothly. Good luck!

FYI, there's another thread about Diminished Value claims. Your accident seems like a prime example of when to pursue such a claim ... the other guy's fault, almost new vehicle, a repair that will return your vehicle to new condition, a CarFax record of the repair that WILL reduce the value at trade time.

Sorry to hear about this man. My Raptor is currently in the shop getting fixed...my driver side rear quarter panel and bumper got hit by a fire truck while I was parked.

My son got hit when he had his truck about 4 or 5 months, also. he got rear ended straight on but it wasn't as bad as yours. they really hit you hard.

and the bad thing for my son, he called me yesterday afternoon and said his ranger must be cursed because someone hit it again and its only been out of the shop for 4 weeks since being fixed from the first time it got hit.

a lady backed into the passenger side of the bed while he was in line at the burger place. he said he tried to pull up because he saw her backing out but couldn't go anymore without hitting the car in front of him and then he felt the truck shake from her backing into it. he got out and said you just backed into my truck and she said "it didn't hurt it".

i told him it must be the white paint.

Sorry, about your Grief. I am thinking more and more a separate camera may be a good idea.
I really like the Marsh Gray. i have an XLT on order. I think the color looks very classy.

That's good to know! I'm in Michigan so I'd have to file a mini-tort against the other driver's insurance for only a maximum of $3,000 on top of repair costs. Was gonna do that anyways so I don't have to pay my deductible, so when the claims officer calls tomorrow I'll ask about diminished value.

I’m so sorry man. I know this sucks. I was kind of in a minor accident a few weeks ago, but unlike yours mine was very minimal. I didn’t bother going with insurance since I didn’t want to take the chances of it showing in the carfax plus the possibility to increase my premium.

Don't expect any acknowledgement from the insurance adjuster about even the validity of the concept of diminished value.

You'll have to research it a bit and pursue it. Search the other thread. I do have experience with this, and offered some specific information.

Will do! Luckily I'm the type of guy that buys vehicles for life. I don't ever plan on selling or getting rid of my Ranger until it falls apart.
