Planned time, Dec 25.
Actual time, Mar 26.
Get in line as soon as you can, because they are probably going to fix the unsold trucks on the lot first.

My reading didn't suggest lines were being formed. Are they, or are you making an assumption? I'm not saying that such an assumption would be unreasonable ... just sorting the "what is" vs the "what should be."

Nah, just guessing. My guess is that when parts are available, we will get a notice from Ford HQ. Then we will have to schedule with a dealer. My guess also is they won't get parts until you schedule the repairs.
Luckily, my dealer will pick up my truck from my work, then return it to me when done. They also do that for regular maintenance. My mom had a S/W recall on her Escape, and the tech went to her house and fixed it.

I'll wait until April or May to get the recall done. I'd rather get it done after the techs learn how to not damage the interior panels in the process of doing the recall.

As long as we are guessing.

we know the part exists as trucks coming off the line have the fix.

but there is a big difference between making 8000 a month for production and producing 100,000, packaging into into a kit, and developing a retrofit procedure.

my guess is ford will give priority to production, and then dealer inventory which numbers in the 8k? Or so.

and my guess is that will occur well before we are notified of the availability of the fix

Plenty of folks who have been pushing daisies for the last 40 years would have liked side airbags. Not everyone gets into accidents…
If the guy who hit my Rover didn't have airbags, they'd have been picking his teeth out of the radiator.

Personally I am all for new safety features and it’s one of the reasons for updating my over 20: year old vehicle.

in this case, the side curtain must remain inflated for 6 seconds head and then a head form is launched against the curtain

the “ejection mitigation” test is

https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-49/subtitle-B/chapter-V/part-571/subpart-B/section-571.226

Purpose and Scope. This standard establishes requirements for ejection mitigation systems to reduce the likelihood of complete and partial ejections of vehicle occupants through side windows during rollovers or side impact events.

target location specified in S5.2 of this standard, 6.0 ±0.1 seconds after activa-tion of an ejection mitigation counter-measure that deploys in the event of a rollover, and at a speed of 16 ±0.5 km/h.

I was just sold a 2025 Ranger Raptor with a build date of May 2025. I bought this truck on Saturday (9/23) and just learned they did not perform the recall! Isn't it illegal for them to sell me a brand new vehicle with an active open recall!?

It is illegal to sell a vehicle with an active safety recall. But, if your truck is affected, it would have to sit at the dealer until December when the parts are expected to arrive.
Maybe your truck was fixed before leaving the factory? Do you have an active recall in Ford Pass or receive a letter?

The recall shows up on the Ford Pass app. I called a different dealer (not the one I bought it from). They said parts just became available yesterday (9/23) and I could schedule an appointment for install.

it’s possible then that the original dealer did the safety recall and it just hasn’t been updated in the ford app or vin lookup

did you check the service history in the app?

it might be worth a call to the dealer who sold you the vehicle. đźš—

Yeah, turns out the truck was NOT fixed before it was sold to me. Now the dealership is acting like they're doing me a huge favor by scheduling service and fixing the recall for me.
