What is the largest tire for a 100% stock 4x4 with Stock wheels?
Stock Wheel spec 18x7.5 with a +55 offset.
‘Stock tire P255/65R18 that’s a 31x10 tire

Best I can tell from the research I have done so far is that a 275 is going to be max width and clear the UCAs without spacers on stock +55 offset wheels.

I am thinking this might be largest tire I can go and have 0 rub issues on a 100% stock truck on a stock wheel.

This is the tire I am thinking about putting on these trucks.

The P275/65R18 is a 32x11 tire
That’s an 1 inch taller and an 1 inch wider then the OEM tire size.

Is anyone running a 275/65R18 on their truck with stock wheels and no lift or wheel spacers?
Would love to see pics of that combo.

Thoughts or other ideas or combos that are larger then stock that work on a stock truck?

Looks like the 275/65R18s have been done.
No mention of spacers being used.

I think this video there is mention of some rubbing on the mud flap.

They do mention needing spacers to run a 285.

This one seems to be indicating no spacer needed no rubbing with a 285 on stock rim.

Now from some size calculators and other spec publications I have read the minimum rim width to run a 285 is 8”, and all these OE Ranger wheels are 7.5 which 7.5” rim width seems to show that’s the minimum needed for a 275 wide tire.
???
I am sure the 285s would mount on a 7.5 rim, might be tricky to find a shop willing to do it.
Least wise I have issues with this sort of thing with some of the tire chain stores like discount tire.
‘If the tire spec calls for a minim 8” rim and all you have is 7.5” rim, there are shops that will refuse to mount them.

So I am thinking the safe bet would still be the 275/65R18 if using the OEM wheels.

I do think a 285/60R18 31.5x11.5 would likely fit and work just fine, might be limited in choices for that size, and may have some issues with finding a shop to mount the, on 7.5 rim.
‘This 285/60R18 probably would look really good on there if, if, if. Everything went well with the entire project .

Thanks for starting this thread, I've been waiting for this topic to come up, following along. I'm assuming here we are referring to XL, XLT & Lariat trims, not the Raptor in your sig? Many XL & XLT packages come with 17" wheels which mine did and I chose 17's intentionally for the slightly taller sidewall cushion.

The 17" wheels come with 255/70/R17s which are also 31" just like the 255/65/R18s. The 275/70/R17s are also slightly over 32" just like the 275/65/R18 so this discussion can likely also apply to those of us with 17" wheels.

Now we just need to wait for people who have tried bigger sizes. I won't be ready for a while as I just received my truck and tires are probably a couple years out.

Yes, I was studying one of my personal Raptors next to one of the Lariats i bought for my business last week, and the tiny little 255 tires just really stand out and bug me.

So thought I would do a little digging and see what is what.
I know they would never look as muscular as the Raptors, but I am thinking a simple bump in tire size could go a long ways towards improving the overall stance of the Lariats.

Discount Tire website indicates a 7.0in rim is fine for a 285/70-18.

‘That’s good info, Thanks !

That’s actually who I typically use.

I had ran into a deal with them last year where they ordered me in a set tires for my Dually and when they came in and I was there to get them Installed, they backed out sighting the oem rims were to narrow for the spec of the tire.

They did still sell them to me as a carry out sale, and I had to find another tire shop to install them.

Good to know if I wanted to go with 285/60R18 that I could and not have a hassle on my hands trying to get them mounted.

So this means as long as I can clear the UCAs with a 285 tire.
‘I could go with a 285/60R18. I believe that would give me an added 1/2 “ height, and 1.5“ width.
31.5” tall 11.5” wide. I am thinking that would look good on these trucks.

Would love to see that size on a Ranger if anyone is running that size.

Without the Raptor flares do you think the 285s, or even the 275s, would result is sand blasting of the fenders and rocker panels?

No, I don’t think so, not on the stock +55 offset wheels anyway.

This truck had stock rims with 275/65R18 tires.
‘I zoomed in and clipped these pics from the video I found earlier.
There is not any poke. The tires are still 100% inside the fender of the truck.

No lift that I can see.
Those were taken from this video that says it not been modified.
Or rather it is titled no modifications needed.

I should mention that most of the videos out there about the Ranger and modifications are typically not US built rangers. I can't say 100% the Australian models or Asian models are setup with the exact same suspensions as our US models. They look the same to me and probably a good chance that they are the same, I just have no way to verify that they are the exact same.

I agree. I did notice it is a Wildtrack model and the rear leaf springs appeared to be different...looks like there is one more leaf and no idea of rim offset. I really dont want to lift it since I think pickups look better with a bit of rake. Not sure what all this level is about. But to each their own!

I would be shocked if that is not the same crappy +55 offset we get here in the states.
The face of those wheels is very flat.

I much prefer at least a +35. I do like at least some depth to the look of the wheels.
I am running the +30s off the SAS Bronco's on both my Ranger Raptors.

The Lariats I started this thread about.
Are both trucks for my business, so I am not planning on changing the rims or doing anything really wild or expensive to them.

I am just thinking I would like to upgrade/upsize the tires a bit at some point.
The Lariats have such a tinny looking tire on them from the factory.

FWIW Google says the Wildtrak trucks down under also have a +55 offset. Which makes sense as a global brand. I am intrigued to see where you go with this.

Right now if upgrading the tire on the Lariats tomorrow I think i am still thinking the 275/65R18s would be the right call for best blend of both increased height and width of the tires.

I am not a big fan of of tall skinny tires. I really like a nice wide tire with still enough height to fill the wheel wells without looking stuffed .

Best guess without buying them and seeing first hand.

I really think the 275/65R18 or maybe a 285/60R18 would be the best overall bet to achieve the said goal of optimizing the look and stance while using all 100% oe parts.
Meaning oe wheels, no lifts just simple tire swap only.
