Curious around the ring is the surface flat?
Flat enough past the dial's encircling slightly raised plastic lip. There should be room for a flip cap to flip forward towards the shifter. Hope it works out for those concerned about it.

Yes. Depth is the concern. I measured 70mm across from the outer edge of the enclosing plastic ring with a depth of 25mm, rounded slightly up, for clearance. Maybe Monstrum or Butler Creek has them or can custom make one. Someone might have a Ranger at one of these manufacturers and do a laser measurement.
A 2.5" PVC or ABS pipe has an OD of 73.025mm meaning a 2.5" coupling, cap or rubber Fernco "qwik cap" would fit. A fernco cap comes pretty short and by removing the clamp could just be placed over the knob. You could even leave it in place and just squeeze it when changing drive modes.

edit: looks like the only 2.5" Fernco is this end cap

I think I have a 2.5" gray electrical PVC connector around here, 2.5" is way more common in electrical than in plumbing, If I find it I'll try it.

So the 2.5" coupling fits nicely over the knob which means any 2.5" pipe cap that you can find will work since all 2.5" pipe is the same outside diameter of 73.025 mm and the fittings are made to accommodate that size whether they are ABS, PVC, rubber or a coupling/cap all will work. The one in the pics happens to be a 2.5" gray PVC coupling.

ETSY has a 4x4 knob guard for just over $20. It is advertised for next gen Ranger Raptor but maybe there are others.

I sent this idea to Muslogy a few weeks ago to see if they would manufacture a cover for this. All the one I found online only cover the dial, not the buttons.

My mock up to date for a cover. Keep in mind I don't yet have my Ranger. Sizing based off of suggested 2.5" PVC pipe.

Here's my 3D printed solution. PETG filament, as PLA might deform at really hot summer day interior cabin temps.

I used picture hanging strips to mount them. Pretty tedious cutting out the slim pieces to mostly follow the curve at the base of the covers, but it holds them in place very securely, and they still come off without residue or damage.

With the buttons still exposed, and the side cutouts for the mode wheel, the controls are still completely usable. They don't entirely eliminate dog induced activation, but it's now very rare compared to very common before.

Also, my pupper has mostly come to terms with the roaring exhaust and hanging on for dear life during Baja Mode shenanigans, so she's not as prone to freaking out and running back and forth between her backseat den and the front...

Nice!
Is the STL available?
Assume a lot of supports

Very nice!!! As a side note Nano tape works well too and doesn't leave any residue.

It took about 473 iterations to get the fit right, and my organization skills are terrible, but I've updated the above post with what I think are the correct files? Hopefully close enough, without too much prototyping involved...

If you print them "top down", the only supports needed are for the bridges in the cut outs for the mode selector cover, so not too bad.

Thanks
I'll stick with Entoptics design as he factored in the taper.
I did print with a small tweak sliding the vertical supports for the larger button over.
I'll have to wait and see when I get my Ranger.

Has anyone found a solution to cover the drive selection knob?
Alll ready made chicken or tuna can is the perfect size I have A Westie dog who sits on console paws on rotatory dail no more problems Make sure clean wash can also can be paint black. Simply an effect result.
