This just happened to me not an hour ago. I hadn't driven the truck in about a week. My son and I went to get some food, so I went out and started the car. Didn't get the initial splash screen on the dash and noticed my car was in Rock Crawl mode. Then it switched to Baja before I double tapped my R button which put everything back to my settings. I also noticed that my Radio was set to the Preview Channel for Sirius XM, whereas before it was on a music channel. This was all before I had even taken it out of Park.

Truck drove fine after that, and when I turned the vehicle off and restarted it, it started up normally with no issues.

1. No modifications
2. No Forscan alterations
3. No tune
I had this exact same issue this morning when I started my 24 RR. Only difference was it had only been parked overnight and not for an extended time.

Just happened to me. While pulling up to a stop sign I noticed it decelerated more than usual like an unexpected downshift. I looked down and it was trying to go into rock crawl mode at about 10 mph. 2025 RR about 10k miles.

I have a few Forscan mods, too may to list off the top of my head.

I have the Ford Performance tune.

I've seen this issue occur while parked and while driving. It will try to switch to Baja mode, it basically cycles all the way through til the last mode. But if driving it gives you the slow to a stop before it will switch to 4WD or whatever warning.

I've noticed what seems to trigger it for me is placing my Yeti cup into the cup holder. It is weird and not at all consistent. I can purposely try to trigger it and it won't work. But randomly I will place the Yeti in the cup holder and it cycles modes. Sometimes it's not just my Yeti cup, sometimes it's some other object and I think I've even smacked the cup holder and it's done it. But it's not consistent at all.

I brought mine in for this and they've had it now for most of a week. I'm hoping they can figure it out. I've had it both start up in a random drive mode, and switch modes while driving.

1: No modifications
2: No Forscan alterations
3: No tune
4: The issue has happened twice at 35~mph, going down a slight grade. Truck indicated it was going into Rock Crawl mode. Tried changing with the knob and all it did was start cycling through modes. Shut truck down and started back up and life was good again.

Mine is at Dealer now for this problem will report back on THIS thread post appt

Update / Fix?
Just picked my RR up from dealer they found that the ABS module needed to be recalculated (DTC p05d3) and strongly feel that the erratic behavior may have sent signals to the Drive Mode System.
We will see if this fixes the phantom switching of drive modes.
Hello Rare Raptor, exactly what light or lights came on on your dashboard or exactly what occurred! Thanks for the reply!!

4: Regularly now the truck asks if I want it to stay in Sand mode at start-up. The worst day I had been caught in stop and go traffic and the mode kept shifting on its own. Three weeks ago I had it in the shop for show "Drive Mode Unavailable". System was "reconfigured" and has been working until the random mode shifts started happening. Not sure if the Drive Mode is always the same or not when since I just put it back to normal immediately when I notice. Had one day of "Drive Mode Unavailable" as well but that fixed itself. I also had one instance of the brake petal going stiff on me and when I pushed harder on the petal it felt like I had no power brakes. Oh, today my Raptor Mode Button on the steering wheel decided to do absolutely nothing with no message on the dash and the mode dial was functional.

Putting it back in the shop tomorrow. We'll see. Kinda shocked by all this frankly.

Ford has no remedy. Either put up with it or sell it. That’s their answer.

Back from the shop and it appears the drive mode dial was bad. It was replaced and so far so good. I got the vehicle used so I'm not sure what abuse the dial might have faced before I got it. lol. Fingers crossed because this thing is a blast to drive.

Mine does the same. Set your cup in a little too hard and bingo

Mine has done it numerous times. Done it at 75 mph! Seems it won't complete the shift at speed thank goodness. 30k miles. Probably done it a dozen times. 0 modifications.
It seems to happen a lot more frequently when I set a yettie cup in the cup holder.
Sometimes I can make it happen by setting the cup down a little harder than usual.
