It sounds like ford is f@#king up this recall . I've decided that the time is not right to have this done, besides my dealer does not have the parts and doesnt even know when . ( see the carfax message I got last week). "Remedy Not Available"

Got mine done after much hesitation, but it took half a day, and I would never know it was done. I took photos before just in case, but nothing wrong. Perfect job!

Carfax is behind the times. I have received letters from Ford, my dealer, and notices in the app that the solution is ready, as well as many have had it done.
My dealer picked up my truck in for an alignment and oil change. I asked to get the recall done. She said it may have to sit overnight, so I said never mind, I'll get it done later. Granted, that was the lady making appointments, not the SM.

Intentionally waited awhile to get mine done so the techs would “learn” how to do it. Well it kind of back fired on me. When I made the appointment a couple months ago the service manager agreed to sound deaden my roof since the liner would be dropped. He said it would not take much time to throw up the deadening material. Yea!!

Since then ford has figured out how to make the recall repair without dropping the liner. So long story short, they did drop the liner for me and did install the sound material but I agreed to pay $400 for the added labor. Which is fine for the job they did.

The work was perfect. You can’t tell they were even there. The deadening was well worth it.
I dropped off the truck at 8:30 AM and they called me at 4:30 to come and pick it up.

Can I ask, how much did it change the sound? I find my truck is so quite that I am shocked I am in a truck. My wife drives a Mach E and it is louder inside than my Ranger? It is really worth the money and effort?

I changed out the speakers and the stock subwoofer. As part of that project i deadened all four doors and the back bulkhead. The effort on the bulkhead was a waste of time and money. Deadening the doors fantastic! I wanted to do the roof but after seeing a video of what all was involved in dropping the liner I passed. So I jumped at the opportunity of getting the roof done with the recall but my plan didnt quite work out.
Even after spending $400 in labor for the roof work I would do it again. Very quiet in my truck and Miles Davis never sounded so good!!
So for me it was all worth it.

Got mine done yesterday. They had the truck most of the day, but everything seems to be fine and no issues. Still waiting for the recalls on the Ford app to clear, those will probably take a few days. The dealer says they have done quite a few of them.

I would have liked to have sound deadening done at the same time, but just seemed too complicated to try and arrange. I’ll do the doors and see after that if I want to pursue anything further.

I took it to the dealer, they told me two hours two diagnose and 2-3 days to fix. They didn't have a loaner so I left it for another date.
Ford's book time for the fix is 2 hours so 2-3 day fix doesn't sound reasonable. Techs saying it usually takes 2-4 hours.

When I booked mine in for the recall, and warranty inspection(to keep my warranty as I do all my own maintenance) they told me, it was a few hours, but may need the truck overnight, as their bodyshop did the headliner work, not the service department, so they may not finish depending when they start it.

I was on nightshift at work, on my days off. so I didnt mind leaving over night. dropped her off 8pm monday night dec 1, dec 2nd the appointment day, they got her in the bodyshop around 9 or 10. and then she had to wait for the service dept to get a free slot, and truck was done 4pm. the shuttle picked me up. I was expecting Wednesday evening on my way to work that night, stop in and pick her up, but she was finished tuseday. so plus!!

and you cant even tell they were there. a,b and c pillars look like they wernt even touched. only evidence they were there. my rearview mirror was all the way down, my dashcam was unplugged(gluing the fucking thing in next time. lol) and of course the front seats had to be laid back a touch.

See for me, I would be worried I would hear MORE of the dash related noises, like I already have a popping sound likely the blend door actuator, and a cricket sound LOL... so it would just amplify those and probably more to come. But I get it I bet it does sound great in the cab!

Off track, but what material did you use for sound deadening?
