IIRC, it's not "chance of unexpected airbag inflation". It's a chance of the air bag being ripped open IF it does deploy.
Helpful feedback. I guess if you don’t like airbags no sense doing recall…

Oh, I'll get it done. It's not a high priority for me, and there's no way I'm leaving it overnight for what should be a 2 hour job.

You are probably correct. Nevertheless, it is a safety issue that has been identified and in Arizona Ford is not providing sufficient inventory for a timely remedy.

I am on the fence with the recall. My 24 Lariat sees very little road time, mostly for in town ventures to Home Depot as we restore a second home for my daughter. Our main errand ride is a 2025 RAV4 PHEV, we really like it. BUT back to the airbag thing, hate reading about damaged or poor installations when re-installing all the trim, headliner, seats, etc....PLUS now I gotta deal with the dash cam wire I so perfectly installed. Just dont know if I want to do this recall....I guess I should not be so negative and ask my dealer if there is a tech who has done alot of them, etc etc.

So I assume no headliner removal...? 30 minutes gotta be a record, glad to hear that for you.

Had mine done today. They came to my house, took him 30 minutes and no issues. Looks like he was never there.
excellent, that’s what I have been waiting to hear.

The recall instructions do actually have the headliner removed. It's billed as two hours of labor, that tech was pretty quick. For what it's worth, I think it's worth having the recall work done. You don't want the airbag tearing when you need it.

Got lucky for a change! Got to the appt at 9:45am. Was rolling out at 10:15am. Cant even tell the headliner or trim was touched. Some footprints on my clean black mats front and rear so I know they were in it!!

both times my 04 ranger had airbag recalls, the local dealer had it overnight and no loaner provided. that would be problematic for people who only have one car per working family member.

Well, time to add my experience. I generally really try to avoid adding to any negative internet hype but……

Seemed like it all went ok today but shortly after I left and did a more thorough inspection I noticed this. Now, it looks to me like the tech dropped a tool on it. So while it was there for the side curtain recall, this is the type of thing that could possibly happen at any visit for any issue. But it’s pretty infuriating.

Went back and they then approved getting it fixed at their partner body shop. But Im Really thinking fixing this, in this area would be more invasive than the actual damage. So I may just live with It. We’ll see what the body shop says when they detail to me exactly how they would fix it.

Wow... had to be fairly heavy whatever made that ding. I had my truck in a while back due to a fan belt blowing off and I took LOTS of photos beforehand. Hope they fix it right if you go that way. I would worry about matching as it looks like you have one of the upgraded paint colors too.

As he said, must have been something heavy. But check under the door in that area. It's possible that something was jammed there when the door was shut, which would also leave a mark on the door.
An option after touching up paint, is to put some door sill guards over it. something like these:

I have thought about those to both cover it up and then add future protection for kids getting in and out etc. Just not sure about the overall look with them. Basically I’m very undecided about the whole thing still.
