Anyone else’s OCD triggered by only half of the non-Raptor Ranger’s taillights being functional.

This just drives my ocd nuts, that only half of these taillights is actually functional.

Why Ford , why? Lol 😂

The Raptor version for whatever reason actually comes with a fully functional taillight.
‘Why is that?
Raptor on the left, Lariat on the right.

Lariat taillight. Half the light is just a reflector, doesn’t light up.

How dare you look at the rear end of another truck…. That is so cheating….

It's been interesting reading about all of your trucks--past and present. Farm equipment. Sales guys. Kansas--wide-open Kansas it seems. Certainly curious about what you do with all the trucks.
Yea, thanks, I live a little ways outside of the city, we have been in the HVAC distribution business for many years now , we have 10 warehouses in 4 states around the central US. I starting to shift my territory sales guys over to these Rangers this fall, shifting from full size XLT F150s.

With the introduction of the class exclusive 48” between the wheel wells in 2024 of these new Ragers was the real game changer that has made this shift to mid-size possible. I bought my RR last year when they first came out and loved it, and quickly started testing it in real work applications and discovered it’s really capable and able to take the place of some of of our full size trucks.
For our needs we need to be able to haul materials to customers either to their shops or their job sites. Which at times involves standard 4ft pallets of materials. Only the Ranger can do that in the mid size segment.

They are comfortable for our team to be in all day, day in day out, they are capable of hauling our products, they offer the safety tech that I like to see and spec in all our trucks. I have 2 already in service, and so far all the feedback from my guys in the new Rangers has been very positive. I think one of them is already pushing up close to 4000 miles on his, it’s only been in service 45 days or so.

Got it. Thanks for filling in the blank. I can see how the 48in bed width is an advantage for the HVAC business.

I've ridden and driven across Kansas numerous times over the years and the heat is sumptin for sure. I can understand why choosing the white color for your fleet. I'll see how the shelter green goes this summer.

the non lighted part is reflective and if someone is behind it will not look so different?

also if you are stopped with your lights off, the non raptor might have an advantage in visibility?

it does some a curious decision and Ford has made several of them on the Ranger

I would think it would be cheaper to have them all the same or at least the ones with blind side sensors the same instead of a different stocked item

do the raptor tail lights have the same physical configuration as the lariats?

edit: I can see that was answered, pricey swap for sure. 👍

Backed up the Lariat into my garage three weeks ago, with the mirrors, camera and the warning sensors working, and heard CRUNCH. 😱

Not good. Got out and discovered the handle on my push gas mower had jutted out, caught my left rear taillight dead center, and made a round hole about the size of a tennis ball 🎾. Won't post a picture because the pain is too much 😡.

No paint or body damage, thank God.

Called the biggest Ford dealer in Wichita. Parts manager said Kansas City warehouse had the LR for Lariat in stock and I could get it at the Wichita dealer next day at 8AM. Cost with tax: $2,260. 😭

Why? Well, the taillight has BLIS, wiring harness, bulbs, and is sold as an assembly. Went to pick it up, dealer does not take checks. 😯 My usual dealer in Newton does (parts take longer), they do not. No reason for it, just their policy. Cash or credit card. My bank branch was nearby, got cash. 💸💸💸

Not getting the insurance company involved. No telling how long that would take or if rates go up.

Replaced the assembly, no problem. 😀

BLIS and cross traffic alert no longer worked. 🙁

Don't own FORSCAN. Could have removed the old BLIS, replaced the new one, and maybe it might have worked. Or I might have screwed up the new assembly. Too expensive to take a chance. Off to my regular dealer who calibrated BLIS in ten minutes for $80. 💵

Expensive accident. Lawn mower almost got kicked to the curb but my fault, not the mower. So now the mower is relocated to the barn and can keep the tractor company.

So, if you are thinking of changing out OEM taillight assemblies to upgrade, if they will wire up, two will run $4,520, plus calibration. Or you can try Car-part.com. Many vendors have them.

If you go to the Maverick owners site, lots of praise over using that unibody urban utility vehicle for business in the city. Maybe good for certain companies; seen a few around Wichita with their business logo. But you also explained why Ranger works for you. Don't think a Maverick would cut it with the 4' bed, and the Maverick Lariat is under appointed compared to Ranger Lariat, for the price.

Isn't there a brake light on the Chinsel (up top)? It doesn't look illuminated in the first photo.

The third brake light on Lariat comes on when you step on the brake pedal. Wife verified it. It is an LED assembly. I do not see my 3d brake light illuminate when I open the door with the engine off but the top half of the tailights do. Weird to me, after the F150.

Yea, I figured they would be expensive, was thinking several hundred each. Maybe $500-800.

I had no idea they were in the thousands.
That is insane!

Unless there were some sort of aftermarket add on kit to come to market, I am sure we will be just living with how they are only half lit. LOL

If you wanna hear more cheapness, my Job 2 (late build) 25 MY Lariat had incandescents in the CHMSL and cargo lights. Just replaced with LEDs. That means 26 MY is likely to be non-LED.

Edit: I see there's sad reactions, but I'm fine with it. Looks good with LEDs and those aftermarket LEDs are replaceable whereas the whole OEM LED fixture would need to be swapped if one of the LEDs failed.

This is one area I have thought about improving my XLT is to add some more LEDs. There are plenty of YouTube videos out there and it doesn't seem too complicated. The chinsel lights are so noticeably dim.

I used this set: Amazon.com: LASFIT 912 921 LED Bulb Reverse Light Backup Light White and Third Brake Bulbs Light Red Combo, T15 W16W Canbus Error Free Light,Non-Polarity, 4 PCS : Automotive

I've had good luck with LASFIT reliability. Took about 15 mins, I was being very slow and careful, so with a drill you could probably do it in 5 mins.
