What's the best way to tap the aux terminals and still be able to close the cover? Use a ring terminal and bend it? Look for 90 degree ring terminals? I am considering using a MEGA fuse and bending one end, this would solve 2 issues at the same time, has anyone tried that? (My load will be 30 amps with fuse protection at the load so I could use a larger MEGA fuse at the battery as it would only be to protect the wire against short circuit)

Use a mega fuse holder and a wire of the appropriate size. Attach the holder where you can get to it and run the wire. I have been running my winches in this manner for 12 yrs with no issues.

Yupp bent them. for my quick connect booster cables, I had to grind down the ring terminal slightly to fit, and any high draw items you want the post closest to the middle of the battery. any low draw stuff can go on the outside next to engine.

the ARB dual battery kit uses a midi fuse holder one for the start battery to charger(ypu can see just laid behind battery) and then charger to aux battery. so that probably be your best bet to keep the exposed bolts from shorting out.

diode Dynamics also uses a midi mount for their D switch. its a big midi one. Il lsee if I got pic of that one

Edit: just saw you said mega, not a midi fuse. but you can get mega holders too

Use a “Terminal fuse block” - it will fit the positive post with a little trimming of the surrounding plastic and red cover. Buy two fuses, one as a spare, these are not available in every auto parts store. See this thread for more info.

Ground your load on a chassis ground stud, for example the one close to the battery in the fender sheet metal.

I tend to use MEGA and MIDI interchangeably, I am actually using MIDI with an inline holder that I don't need to fasten down. Everything is Littelfuse from Mouser.

That looks nice. I've used those MRBFs on my RV battery bank but for my compressor the load is under 40 amps so I'm using an inline MIDI and coming off the M6 auxiliary tap. My negative is already attached to that grounding point you referred to.
I like that red conduit you used, will have to look for some of that.
