I have an old version of Forscan on an old Android tablet that I used on my 2002 Superduty with an OBDLink MX ELM 327 BT adapter, have not tried it on the Ranger. It worked OK on the 2002 with occasional crashes. I think it's just Forscan Lite though.

What is the best setup? A windows laptop? Which one are you guys using? I made the mistake of buying a cheap generic Windows laptop that is slow and the screen is hard to read, I use it for AutoEnginuity on a Sprinter.

Also is it best to use a wired OBD connector like the OBDLink EX? I guess the biggest question is which laptop to buy?

Thanks, my plan is to go with the complete licensed edition. I went with Lite when it first came out because if I recall it was the best edition at the time to use with Android.

I just dug out the Fusion I bought in 2020 and fired it up.After a Chrome update it seems to be OK. Speed is not up to what it is on my desktop but maybe because the desktop is wired. I also have the keyboard attachment. Think it will work OK with Forscan? 6GB RAM 256GB. WIN 10. The keyboard attachment gives me a total of 2 USB connectors. It's this one, NLA

Thanks, I already downloaded Forscan and ordered the OBDLink adapter. Will start with the 2 month free upgrade.

Do they allow you to install on more than 1 device per license?

oops I see only 1 device per license. I guess if I upgrade devices I'll buy another license, they don't cost much.

The old Fusion worked like a champ and I made some modifications today including an as built mod (backed up prior of course).

Vlinker FS interface + Old Core2Duo Laptop + Windows 10 +Forscan Full Licensed.
ALL SMOOTH.

Maybe the laptop would benefit from a NEW Solid State Hard disk with a LTSC version of Windows (LTSC has not any bloatware, its used on technical machinery, medical stuff, and mission critical stuff).
Official Windows 10 and 4ctiv4tors in MASSGRAVE.DEV
I have "renewed" at least 3 or 4 laptops with a new SSD hard drive and fresh LTSC windows 10. all work decently faster for how they used to work with normal hard disks.

When i got the house, the 3rd bedroom shared a wall with the garage, but to access the garage you had to go through an outside door. built in '58, so i put a door in for easy access. Greatest thing ever. My PC will link with WiFi or Blutooth so i can edit from my PC ..

Dang, attached garahe and no access to the garage from the house? Thsts really odd.

I have a detached two car garage that has no way to get from the one side to the other. Its like two single car garages under one roof. Someone tried to make a pass through but the walls are concrete block, not cinder block, and they caused a large crack to the ceiling so when i got the place, i framed the 24" pass through they put in and closed it back up to try and add support for the second story as there is a low spot in the floor right above that pass through.

This building was built in 1941 the 93 year old neighbor told me years back. She said her dad, uncle, and brothers poured the blocks in the yard and built the house and the detached garage.

So, no fix for my garage but just having a garage was a huge upgrade from living in a mobile home park previously.

What OBDLink did you go with, I looked on the website and there are few different options? Once you have downloaded your Forscan do you just plug in the OBDLink?

This seems to be the recommended one: https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-ex/

The MX+ bluetooth one should work as well, but it's more expensive and it depends on how you feel about programming via a wireless connection.

Yep that's the one. I've used the BT MX versions in the past but the hard wired version is so much better and easier to deal with.
