Hey everyone!

As the title suggests, my RR will be here any day now and I am stoked to pick it up. As a new owner, are there any tidbits of info that I absolutely have to know upon receipt of my new truck?

I'm traditionally a Toyota guy (2004 v8 4Runner, 2023 4Runner TRD Off-Road), however the new Tacoma doesn't come in a V6 so, here I am. The last Ford I owned was a 2006 Lincoln Mark LT (F-150). Thanks in advance and I look forward to being a part of this community.

Look over the entire truck, the list is long (don't won't to burst your bubble)(Post covid vehicles from every manufacturer are just not the same),

shipping damage (interior / exterior), tail light chip issue, body panel alignment (dents / dings), paint coverage / quality (dirt in paint, fish eyes in paint, etc.), make sure all the systems work (take your time going through the truck before signing any paperwork / take for a test drive). From my experience when looking at RR is that Ford's quality control sucks, especially when it comes to fit/finish. Pick it up during the day time and never in the rain.

This is coming from someone that has ordered 2 (both refused) and looked at about a dozen before finding one that I could accept and even then, still missed stuff.

2026 bed rails are different than 24-25. I had to buy a tonneau cover for my 26 after buying and returning a bed cover for a 24-25 that I incorrectly assumed would fit

Guarantee you all the front end panel gaps are messed up. Open and close the hood. If it doesn’t close easy, make them adjust it. Test drive it before you leave and check hood rattle.

Check to make sure the air intake box is secured. I remember seeing a post about people finding them not closed on the rear side. Mine didn't have the issue...

I agree! Inspect the truck for factory/shipping damages. I had two dents in the rear window frame which I did not notice. It cost me $800 (dent less repair) as the dealer would not fix after it left the lot. Below are my suggestions / modifications I made on our RR's . Seach the post for
" She's here now what do I do", for great suggestions.

Here are the things I did so far.

1a. First and foremost have the Procal installed.... gettie up!
1. Came with a factory bed liner but if you don't have one get it ASAP
2. Rubber bed mat from Ford on top of the spray in.
3. Tonneau cover from Leer Ford branded. Almost water proof and lays very flat.
4. If you do a tonneau cover seal the bed fender caps to keep water our. I used black silicon and Gorilla water proof patch and seal.
5.. Hydraulic hood struts from Red Line.
6. PPF on front, hood and front fenders with small piece on rear fender well.
7. Ceramic coat the whole thing. Canceled my car wash... saw where a member had the
antenna ripped off from one. Pricey but I think will be well worth it.
8. Hard wired my Valentine One Gen 2 radar detector to my rear view mirror power (amazon has
a kit to back tap the connector (some one had a real good post on what and how to tap)!
9. Muslogy center console storage organizer, especially the one that fits inside the console top.
Great for putting wallet, gift cards and cash in.
10. Black ET Truck Spline Lug Nut Kit; 12mm x 1.5; Set of 24 (19-26 Ranger)
11. Three front grill lights from Ford Next Gen Raptor- RP24 Dual Colour LED Grille Lights
(White & Amber). I tapped the under hood fuse box by adding a circuit easy installation. I put a quick connect / disconnect on both the amber and white so I can change colors if I want.
12. I purchased the 10yr/100,000 mile Premium care warranty for my peace of mind. I bought the first one from the dealer (mistake) and the second one from Granger Ford and saved over $1,000!
13. Last but not least a custom license plate RPatrol, those born before 1960 will get it!

Adding the short Stubby antenna (not looking like a RC car)

I really like the Tuxmat solution for carpets.

I'm a fan of bedrugz

Make sure the doors close properly, without friction or resistance and require more force on some...

Mudflaps to limit the damage on your paint and car windshields behind you.

Lock nuts...

More lights in the bed if you have a cover...

If you live in a state that requires a front license plate

make sure yours has a bracket for one….if not, make them add one free of charge

I live in Texas and mine didn’t have one

the aftermarket ones suck

Wow! Mine was flawless, inside and out, materials, fit & finish, paint , all of it.
So was my wife's 2022 Escape when we bought it.

The RR will blow your mind in comparison to Toyotas!

I always chuckle at the standard litany of "must do" items. Customize as you like.

The thing that most stands out to me as a new Raptor owner is the complexity of features. The buttons on the wheel, the knobs and switches on the console, the rabbit warren of things to learn about the infotainment screen. At 7 weeks of ownership I still learn something new usually from this forum, then out to the truck to check it out.....

The other thing is get used to people coming up to you to ask about it.

I had a 24 Tacoma off-road for almost a year then got the RR, you're making a good decision here! When mine came in I crawled underneath it and found not much rust at all luckily on the drive shafts where it can be pretty bad on some trucks. Found a couple rubber bands dangling that probably held something in place during assembly. I didn't notice then, but did after I had it a week that the RF door when shut didn't sit perfectly flush with the body. I googled this and it does happen on some Rangers. Doesn't leak or make wind noise. It's not noticeable unless I tell you it's there.
