Ranger Raptor and DTC B1578:78

This Ranger Raptor has been part of rear camera recall, but "Reverse Brake Assist Not Available" has never really disappeared.

So after multiple visits to Ford dealer, I tried to get rid of B1578 DTC by myself.

I am trying to do Forscan 360 camera calibration on a parking lot, every time it says "100% calibrated" for all 4 cameras, but at the last moment "calibration failed".
What i am missing, is there something else that must be done?

You're missing a dealer that knows what they are doing. Find another shop.

Is the IPMA rendering the images correctly? If so, you can ignore the code, tbh. I can tell you that while FORScan is capable of calibrating the 360 cams, FDRS is better at it.

If the cameras look right and all you want to do is get rid of the code, go here in the IPMA:

706-26-19

xxxx 8xxxx xxxx

If you do not have an 8 there, write the 8, reboot the IPMA and clear codes. That bit is what tells the IPMA it is calibrated and it should make the code go away.

Happy to hear! This particular bit I learned from one of the gurus over on the F150 forum, but a lot of it I've learned from just FAFO.

I just tried this as I have the B1578 DTC and when I try to write the "8" as posted above, it tells me it is an incorrect checksum. I say write it anyway, but when I open the file back up, it writes it back to a "0".

To be clear, I am at code line 706-26-19 and my as built values are FF16-0000-0061. I replaced the first zero in middle series and that is when it tells me incorrect checksum when I say write all.

I did not try the calibration as I thought i read you need to drive like 10 miles on a straight road.

As for the images overlapping or missing, I will have to look again when I get home.

But if 8 is an invalid checksum I do not see where that would matter.

I believe you can delete the last 4 digits when you change the other to 8, and it will generate the new checksum value. You'll want to read through the forscan thread to verify that.

Are you talking about the generic warning that FORScan gives you before you make any config changes? If you change a value, the checksum will always be invalid, but FORScan will correct the checksum (last two bits on code on that line) by itself.

Entering that 8 there is to force the IPMA into knowing it is calibrated and should not be used if the IPMA actually needs calibration. If it is not letting you write that change, then I would recommend running the calibration procedure first and yes, the process will require driving with the laptop hooked up to it either on a straight road to calibrate the lane keep assist camera on the windshield, or in an empty parking lot with well painted parking spaces if you are trying to calibrate the 360 cams.

If your 360 cam images are fine and your lane centering works fine and you still have that code in the background, you can just ignore it.

Do you have back up assist disabled in your settings, or do you have it enabled but get that message when you put it in reverse?

In my case, I have it turned off because I hate it. However, every time I put it in reverse, it gives me the message that it is not available to let me know that I'm on my own.

I will have to verify, but think it is grayed out so I cannot enable or disable it.

Btw I have only had my 24 RR about 2.5 weeks, so still trying to learn about it.

Ok so that may be due to a configuration error. Message me the VIN and I can poke around to see if I see anything helpful.
