My 2025 Ranger 2.3 had been running well until Saturday when cruising along the highway at 70 mph when all of a sudden the Ranger started jerking, then would run normally, then continued a pattern of jerking, running normal, and jerking again. Then I noticed the Check Engine Light on steady and got a message from Ford on the cell phone saying Engine System has detected a fault. I slowed to 35mph and was able to drive the remaining 30 miles to home with no more jerking. When I called the dealership the service manager was able to access the fault code on his screen, Misfire on Cylinder #4. Technology is amazing. Now have a bit over 20,000 miles on the vehicle. Haven't gotten into the dealership for repair but suspect a new spark plug and spark plug coil may fix it.

Check for water/ moisture in the plug well. 5G had water intrusion due to poor design of the cowl, leaking water into the spark plug well. Supposedly, that was fixed on 6G with a cover/diverter over the #4 coil pack and HPFP.

Have experienced the same issue on 2 separate occasions on my 2025 lariat 2.3 at lower speed but no check engine light. Will look for water around the plug wells if it occurs again

Not true. You can turn that off if you load the Ford app and make a service record stating "I HEREBY DECLARE THAT I DO NOT GIVE MY PERMISSION FOR FORD OR THE US GOVERNMENT TO USE ANY OF MY PERSONAL DATA."

You can also text the government that same line and they won’t track your phone anymore either. I swear it works…….🙄
