If you have the Driver assist braking system, if I read the innards of the recall correctly, turn it off and see if it affects your braking because if so, you can inform the dealership that it did and therefore might fall into the recall. If dealership doesn't listen tell Ford, if they don't listen tell NHTSA administration to get their attention. The ordeal is called downplaying or normalizing the issue in order to not have to spend time to try and troubleshoot and find the problem.

Somehow your going to have to convince a dealership to run diagnostics on the brake system. What your describing is not "normal" good luck!

I've actually seen this on other models when both the accelerator and brakes are applied at the same time, mat pushing gas pedal a bit while braking etc.. Sensors on either can cause it. A friend drives with both feet and he got it on a super duty.

That has happened but sometimes without a foot on both pedals. That occurs when the brake pedal falls below the level of the gas pedal and you wind up pressing both.

Try this test. Start vehicle and let run for a few minutes. Wait about 5 minutes and then unplug the vacuum line on the booster to see if you still have vacuum in the booster. An ideal situation it should hold a minimum of 15-20 minutes but a bare minimum of 5 is what I give them if booster is working properly. Of course the longer the better. It depends on the system and I'm still learning these and the electronics. No electrical wiring books available yet. Some I have are over 300 pages. I'm curious how many these service books will contain. Lol
I'll test my 2025 later when time permits as comparison.

This only works if there's a booster of course mines fully electric, yours may be to.

I did this test on mine for your comparison. My brake pedal moves right at 2 inches, running or not before brake resistance is there.

This only works if there's a booster of course mines fully electric, yours may be to.

Looking for some information regarding a sometimes soft brake pedal. It will travel 6" in stop and go traffic and hard stops. Was fine for a few days (1/2" depression and stopping at all speeds without sinking). Two dealers said its the way the truck works, not buying this as it's dangerous, and Ford customer service is relying on the dealer to tell them what's wrong. I'm kinda stuck in the middle. built in 1/2024 so just missed the recall by a month. Not even sure that would correct it. Thanks!

I just received a recall notice for my 2025 Ranger Raptor for this exact issue. The notice states it's a power boost error in the software and an easy programming fix.

Thank you. I'm sure that's what's going on. Hopefully the dealer will step up and convince Ford there's an issue. Seems like Ford relies Soley on the dealers to troubleshoot

We died more often in collisions.

I told a service advisor at the dealership where we bought our '24 STX 4x4 Ranger that I thought the brakes were rather weak and sort of mushy. He said "don't worry, that is a learning brake system and when it learns more about how you and your wife drive, it will improve."

And yes, he said it with a straight face, after just peddling the same line about the transmission. "Shifts will smooth out as it learns more..." No shit.

I said the same thing when I was test driving 2 different Rangers.
(I bought the one with the better brakes. )

It's dangerous when you have 12 EEE feets and the brake pedal travels more than an 1" past the gas pedal when braking!
