I've noticed for about 2 weeks my truck has a noticeable clunk halfway through 3rd gear. I think it might be slipping. It happens under light or slightly heavier acceleration, whether the truck is warm or cold. This happens in regular driving mode and eco mode. When I shift manually, it feels fine. I am planning to call the dealer on Monday to get it in. Just curious if anyone else has anything similar going on. My truck has 1600 miles.

Does it happen all the time or just occasionally? I also experience this, but it's not any worse than other RWD vehicles I've had. It only occurs intermittently though.

Is it that dumb skip second gear deal? I read that this transmission is supposed to skip second gear under certain settings. I watch mine go from first to third all the time by hitting rhe button on the shifter before taking off

Mine does the same..less than 2kmi. 2024 FX4.

It definitely seems like a mapping thing as it's specifically third gear in auto or manual, and always at the same RPM. I can slow down in third, and accelerate and it happens in the same spot.

Did you ever hear anything from the dealer about it? I was going to plug in forscan this week and see if I can catch anything odd with the injector timing or trans.

I finally have an appointment on the 20th to take it in. The dealer has been super backed up and they've rescheduled twice already. When I described the issue they tried to schedule me out to the end of June...I had to pull the "I bought this truck here and it only has 3k miles. Doesn't make me want to buy from y'all again." That seemed to work and got me an earlier appointment. Unfortunately they are the only Ford service center within a reasonable distance.

As soon as I learn something I will let you know. My truck now has 3k miles. Still doing the same thing. I would describe it as feeling like I'm taking my foot off the gas briefly. It happens in every driving mode, auto or manual, and the same exact spot in third gear, under light, medium, or heavy acceleration. I was thinking fuel issue as well. Let me know what Forscan shows.

Will do.

100% exactly what I'm getting on this end. We'll see if the logs show me anything. I've never been to my local Ford dealer yet, so I've got no idea if the dudes there are troubleshooting gods or part changers, so I'd like to show up with data if I can. My techs on base like that anyway.

When I dumped the manual pages from the Ford PTS, I noticed several modules had firmware updates available (al were original fw from it's build date in oct-24), but didn't act on it. Didn't see any TSBs about this either, but also wasn't looking at the time.

Mine does not skip shift normally. It has skipped second gear two times since I've owned it. Every time I experience the dead spot in 3rd gear it shifts through all gears normally and affirmatively.

Skipping 2nd gear is completely normal. Nothing to be concerned about. My truck very rarely skips 2nd. It has done it two time in 3k miles that I have noticed. I pay very close attention to the shifting in my truck so I can sus out any potential transmission issues. Other than my 3rd gear dead-spot, this 10 speed seems super nice!

if you want to watch the shifting, @HillCountryCajun , push the little manual shift button on the side of the shifter when you put it in drive and you will see the gears show up on the bottom of your gauge cluster. it will look like 1/10, 2/10, etc. mine regularly goes from 1/10 straight to 3/10 and makes your head kind of nod forward when it does it.

i can show you next time i am up in leakey or concan. i go that way a few times a year, if you are near there. we go through sabinal because my parents live up there in leakey

Mine does the same. Going on 9k miles and has done the "feels like you're taking your foot off the gas" in 3rd since new. Mine also downshifts hard into 3rd when coming to a stop.
