I've had several of each over the years. The problem that I have with drop ins is that they are slick. Everything tends to slide around. The spray ins are much stickier/rougher.
That being aid, I had a Line-X put in mine the day after I picked my truck up.

I have a DuraLiner in my 1996 Ranger, put in when I bought the truck. I had to remove it a few years ago to remove the bed to replace the fuel pump and filler hose. First time I had ever removed it. No rust. Paint was in excellent condition, some minor wear here and there. I've hauled many, many tons of landscaping materials over the decades. I'm a big fan of drop-ins vs. spray liner.

Spray-in liners have gone way up in price. I just had my 2025 Ranger done by Rhino Liner, they used the Hybrid product (Impact & Abrasion resistant) - Cost was $650. LineX wanted $900 for their Premium product.

I just purchased a 2025 Ranger that didn't have a bedliner. I got quotes from $550-$600 from local companies to do Rhino spray liner. I thought that was super high for such a small bed. Even the Ford Ranger 2024-2025 Modular Bedliner is listed at $495. I found this DuraLiner for just $242 with free shipping to a local dealer. They installed it for just $80 and about $340 all in with tax. They needed to cut in the power and light sections which had a template line on the rear of each opening to make it easy to see where exactly to cut.

I have no connection to them, just passing along something I found that might help others.

Here's a link in case anyone wanted to check out it for themselves:

Can you lay a 4 ft wide plywood sheet flat between the wheel wells? I just bought my G6 yesterday and measured. It looks like the sheet will just fit without a bedliner.

I don't have any sheets to try. Maybe someone else can provide an update.

The answer is the 4 foot wide sheet doesn't really fit between the wheel wells with the liner. Possibly with some heat (Hot sun or heat gun) and weight you may be able to stretch the opening but you risk damaging the liner as well.
