I've had several of each over the years. The problem that I have with drop ins is that they are slick. Everything tends to slide around. The spray ins are much stickier/rougher.
That being aid, I had a Line-X put in mine the day after I picked my truck up.

I have a DuraLiner in my 1996 Ranger, put in when I bought the truck. I had to remove it a few years ago to remove the bed to replace the fuel pump and filler hose. First time I had ever removed it. No rust. Paint was in excellent condition, some minor wear here and there. I've hauled many, many tons of landscaping materials over the decades. I'm a big fan of drop-ins vs. spray liner.

Ford Ranger 2025 Ranger - new DuraLiner drop-in bedliner -- great value compared to other options truck_bed

Spray-in liners have gone way up in price. I just had my 2025 Ranger done by Rhino Liner, they used the Hybrid product (Impact & Abrasion resistant) - Cost was $650. LineX wanted $900 for their Premium product.
